For XML Editor capabilities
___________________________

1) Unzip gX-1-3.zip. You can do this in the root directory of a drive,
because it will create the gX directory and its subdirectories.
Make sure you allow subdirectory expansion when you unzip.

2) double-click the gX.cmd file to start the editor with typical settings,
or run gX.cmd from an OS/2 command prompt.

For document publishing support
_______________________________

1) Place gX-Jars.zip in the [YourGxDirectory]\bin\ directory and unzip it.
By [YourGxDirectory] I mean the gX root directory created by unzipping
gX-1-3.zip. Typically, this would be C:\gX\ or D:\gX\, etc. So you
would, in these examples, place gX-Jars.zip in C:\gX\bin\ or
	D:\gX\bin\.

2) In the gX editor, use the "Settings -> File names for viewers option" from
the bar menu, set the paths to the viewers in the dialog which
opens, and then use the "Settings -> save settings file" option to
preserve your new settings. Viewers of interest are your Web
browser, your copy of the Acrobat viewer, and the VIEW.EXE command
for OS/2 IPF files. The values in the file default.sdb are set to
reflect where my tools live; you have to change the paths so that
they reflect where your tools are installed.

3) Edit the setGxEnv.cmd file to make sure the paths to your gX installation,
to your Java runtime, and so on are properly set. You should really
only need to amend the first two lines (the Java path and the gX home
	directory where you unzipped it).

To integrate more tightly with your OS/2 or eCS
_______________________________________________

You can do one or more of the following things:

1) Put the lines from setGxEnv.cmd file into your CONFIG.SYS file and reboot.
You can then, optionally, remove or rename setGxEnv.cmd. To avoid
a non-critical error message from gXTrans.cmd, you can edit gXTrans.cmd
to put comment delimiters ( /* and */ ) around the line 'CALL setGxEnv.cmd'
near the top of the gXTrans.cmd file. (gxTrans.cmd is a REXX script.)

2) Put the path to your gX installation directory in the PATH statement of
your CONFIG.SYS file and reboot. Then, gX will run from any command
prompt or context in the system.

3) Create a program object pointing to gX.cmd and with the Parameters set to
'xmlFileIn "%*"' (without the single quotes but with the double quotes).

4) Associate the gXIcon.ico with gX.cmd.

5) Set the default association for XML files or *.XML extensions to be with gX.cmd.
