(1) UPDATE#2 CONTENT AND FUNCTION

The primary goal of Update#2 is to enhance the game speed of Majesty - particularly in the multiplayer environment. It does this primarily by making improvements to the network code, as well as optimising the game's memory handling. Aside from overall speed improvements, you'll notice a decrease in the "halting" behaviour of characters when a significantly slower machine is involved in a multiplayer game.

Update#2 includes a number of smaller fixes, as well, resulting in cleaner and more reliable play. The following is a list of all bugs treated in Update#2 and #1:

- Occasional graphic artifacts that would appear during a hero's "coin flip" are eliminated.

- Graphic remnants sometimes left behind by the gold amount number over a heroes head have been eliminated.

- Improved the synch between heroes' animation frames and their associated spell casting.

- If you have a spell loaded on your cursor, the spell may now be deselected when the cursor is over a portrait.

- Area effect Helia spells now have an effect on Peasants in multiplayer games.

- Fairground now have a readout for "Coffers Hold # Gold" when they are created.

- If you have a Wizard's Tower ready to build on your cursor, and are within range of an under construction Wizard's Tower, the cursor will update to "valid building" when the first tower is completed.

- The Hooligan portrait now has background art.

- When buying Ring of Protection, you will now instantly see the change in armour value on the hero's item page.

- The rare occurence of a hero jumping into an illegal "fifth guild slot" has been eliminated.

- In the rename unit name field, hot keys will no longer kick in once the field has name field has been filled.

- Terrain flattening code for building placement has been improved.

- If a unit dies while under the influence of any type of "freeze movement" spell, they will now get a gravestone.

- In lag heavy multiplayer games, you can no longer place multiple buildings or flags in the same place.

- Save game integrity has been improved.

- The multiplayer game partial lock-up of interface functionality such as scrolling, selecting a building, making new buildings or heroes, and chat has been eliminated.

- If two players save their multiplayer games and restart the game, switching sides, the tracking view will reflect their new location, not their previous one.

- If a Ranger is attacking a target at range and comes under direct attack, he will now respond to the new threat.

- Healers will now cast healing spells on themselves.

- The Shard of Detonation in the quest "Brashnard's Ultimate Sphere of Power" is now functional.

- The tooltip text "placeholder_spell" which would sometimes appear in lag-heavy games has been eliminated.

- We have eliminated the situation where your attack flag on unit X prevents you from placing an attack flag on unit Y, where unit Y is attempting flag X.

- When a Palace is destroyed in a multiplayer game, the displaced henchmen will no longer travel to the upper left hand corner of the map.

- When the reward flag amount button is rapidly clicked in multiplayer games, it will no longer be capable of giving you an amount greater than your treasury.

Crash fixes include:

- Right clicking anywhere on the Freestyle interface will no longer crash the game.

- The game now remains stable if a multiplayer game is saved and exited, then attempted to be reloaded or to start any other multiplayer game.

- If a Palace Guard decides to return to a Palace the second it's destroyed, the game will no longer crash.

- In multiplayer games with significant lag, the game will no longer lock up if you click the button to bring up the options screen and then, before the options screen appears, highlight any building or unit on your map, and then hit the Palace button.

- In lag-heavy multiplayer games, the game will no longer crash when a quick player clicks the build button and places a building before the cursor refreshes to show the selected building.

Update#2 also includes a new feature, thanks to the insightful feedback of the official Majesty forum (see http://www.majestyquest.com). We've included a set of speed hotkeys, allowing you to change game speed on the fly during play. This allows you to slow down the game to follow the activities a given hero, then speed the game back up once the action is resolved - all without bringing up the options menu. This feature only works in single player mode.

The speed hotkeys are '<' to decrease speed, and '>' to increase.

While the original goal was to require Update#1 for Zone play, this was not ultimately implemented. However this is the case with Update#2. If you wish to play on the MSN Gaming Zone, you must have Update#2 installed.
