Stoned.Flame is a new virus, known also as Stamford. It was found
during the fall of 1993.

This virus and most variants of the Stoned virus will infect the hard
disk master boot sectors and the boot sectors of floppy disks.

Once the Stonded.Flame infects a disk, it makes a note of the
current month. Afterwards it checks whether the month has changed
whenever it is activated. Once it detects a change in month it
overwrites the 0 track of the boot disk and displays a picture of
flames.
