Running DocCheck interactively
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To run DocCheck interactively, you can use one of the following
methods. If you are running Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups:
1. Double click on the icon in the Leprechaun group in Program Manager
2. Use the File, Run menu item in Program Manageer or File Manager.
3. Double click on the DOCCHECK.EXE program in a File Manager window.
If you are running Windows 95:
1. Select Programs, Leprechaun, DocCheck item from the Start Menu.
2. Select the Run item on the Start Menu and browse for it.
Running DocCheck automatically during Windows' startup
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

DocCheck has command line option switches to control it's functions.
Default switches can be specified in a text file called DOCCHECK.CFG;
this file must be in the same directory as the DOCCHECK.EXE file.

The supplied DOCCHECK.CF_ file is an example of the DOCCHECK.CFG file;
the switches set within it will cause DocCheck to scan the entire C:
drive when run, notify the user if a virus is detected (giving them
a choice of removing it or not), and exitting automatically when the
scan is complete. At least one starting path must be specified in the
DOCCHECK.CFG file for DocCheck to perform automatic scanning.

If no starting path is specified in the DOCCHECK.CFG file, DocCheck
will require the user to enter the path to be scanned in the dialog
box.

To run DocCheck automatically during Windows start up append the command
{path\}DOCCHECK.EXE to the LOAD= line in the WIN.INI file which is in
the Windows directory.

The command line or config file is as follows:

DOCCHECK [-ALL[-]] [-X[-]] [-L[-][={logfilename}]] [-A[-]] [-H[-]]
				[-K[-]] [-T[-]] [{path}...]

The optional "-" after the switches turns the switch off, rather than
on - this is useful if overriding the .CFG file options on the command
line.

The -ALL switch will check all files regardless of extension (the default
is to check *.doc and *.dot files; ie. all Word documents and templates).

The -L switch specifies that a log file is to be generated (the default
is DOCCHECK.LOG in the same directory as DOCCHECK.EXE).

The -A switch will allow the log file to be appended to, rather than
overwritten (default), and can only be used in conjunction with the -L
switch.

The -K switch deletes the macros containing the virus from infected files.

The -X switch tells DocCheck to exit automatically after the scan is
complete.

The -H switch runs DocCheck in a hidden mode with no user interaction.

The -T switch automatically converts Documents marked as Templates
back to Document format (this is a side effect of the infection process;
if a document is marked as a template, the File, Save As command only
allows the file to be saved in Template format; ie. with a .dot extension).

All options except -X and -H are also configurable from DocCheck's Options
menu.

Installing DocCheck
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To install DocCheck simply copy DOCCHECK.EXE, DOCCHECK.DAT and optionally
DOCCHECK.CF_ (renamed as DOCCHECK.CFG) into a directory in your path (a
suggestion would be a utilities directory). NB: DOCCHECK.DAT must be in
the same directory as DOCCHECK.EXE.
