hcopy v2.1g new features (.) or modifications (o) :

. New GUI module HyperCopy Commander (hcopycmd) - an
    optional module. Hcopycmd accepts drag-and-drop
operation, so you can drag URL or file location from
your Web browser, File Manager, or Windows NT explorer
into hcopycmd's window. Hcopycmd will call hcopy to
complete its job. Also, hcopycmd can manage many hcopy
tasks at the same time. All GUI, no console window will
    be popuped.

. New GUI config utility HyperCopy Config (hcopycfg) to
help users to config hcopy's command-line configuration
graphically. This is also an optional module.

. More elegant gauge display, the refresh period will be
limited to be larger than 1 second. The gauge will not
update too frequently to influence the physical transfer
rate under a high speed transfer.

. -R option can be saved by -CFG now.

o The leading character of gauge display is changed from
    '@' to '~' character.

o -G option wasn't saved by -CFG, fixed now.

o When FTP, if the filename part in remote_URL contains
space character, it failed. Fixed now.

o When NNTP, subjects of some decoded files were not
    listed correctly. Fixed now.

o When NNTP, -X and -Y didn't work on some mails. Fixed
    now.

hcopy v2.1f new features (.) or modifications (o) :

o During a HTTP downloading, if the syntax of the remote
HTML file is incorrect, hcopy will display "Abnormal
program termination" and terminates. This is a new bug
    introduced in v2.1e. Fixed now.

o When getting FTP directory list, the transfer rate is
    always 0, fixed now.

o When using -RCV to recovery a broken file, if the local
file name is the same as the remote URL's, the local
one will disappear after a successful transfer. Fixed
    now.

. When giving -RCV option, if local_path is not specified,
the default file name will be the file name part of the
remote_URL. If -O or -O- is given, hcopy won't compare
the timestamps of remote and local files. If -O? is
    given, it does.

o The option -M is renamed to -G (gauge) .

o For easier command-line operation, -CONFIG is renamed to
-CFG, -DECODE to -DEC, -MINROWS to -MIN, -OUTDATE to
    -OLD.

. New option -CFG~ to ignore options saved by -CFG in that
    hcopy session.

hcopy v2.1e new features (.) or modifications (o) :

. HTTP supports failure-recovery feature automatically.
This means hcopy will re-try from the broken point if an
error occurs. This will save much re-transmission cost.
Usually, HTTP/1.1 servers support this feature.

. New option -PASV[-|+] to support FTP's passive mode.
By default, FTP client is passive to wait for the data
connection from the server. When in passive mode, the
roles exchange. PASV mode is useful for those having
routers only allowing connections to be built from
    inside to outside.

. New option -HYP[-|+] for HTTP to download hyper-linked
objects not in the same site. The objects are limited to
non-HTML files. The downloaded files will be placed in
    their referer HTML pages.

. New option -RCV for HTTP to recovery last broken
    transfer.

. New option -W=<dir> to specify hcopy's work directory.
When hcopy starts, it'll first switch to this directory
then go on. This option can be save by -CONFIG option.

. When getting a HTTP link, if a "Location Moved" response
received, and the new address is still in the same site,
hcopy will try to get from the new address. If not in
the same site, hcopy will get or not depends on -HYP's
    setting.

. When using -D option to download FTP directories,
directories being listed will be displayed.

. Most options can be saved by -CONFIG now, please refer
to "Command-line Syntax" in the document.

o New option -O? to tell hcopy only overwrites existing
files when the sources are newer than the targets. And
-O- will tell hcopy not to overwrite any existing files.
The option -O? 's purpose is to override the same option
    saved by -CONFIG.

o "Connection refused" is no longer to be taken as a
serious error. So hcopy won't be stopped by it. Usually
when this error is encountered, it means either the server
is down or is too busy. This fix guaranties hcopy to
    keep on trying.

o In HTTP downloading, URLs ending by a '/' will be
assumed to have a filename given by -H option (default
to "default.html") . In previous version of hcopy, the
-X and -Y filterings didn't match the filename part of
this kinds of URLs. In this version, it does.

o If -L option is given, but the log path is not specified
, the default log file name is "~hcopy.log". If log path
is specified, but only the file name part, no directory
part, then the log directory is default to the directory
that local_path specifies. If none of above, then
    default to current work directory.

o The old -CF option has been renamed to -C*.

o The old -RA and -RL options have been unified to -R*.

o During a HTTP downloading, if the physical connection is
broken, hcopy will still try to download the rest links,
and cause a lot of "connect failed" messages. Fixed now.

o For files downloaded by HTTP, their time-stamps differ
from the real ones by a difference of local time zone
    minus GMT. Fixed now.

o When using -U to perform a FTP uploading, if the remote
directory doesn't end in a '/' character, the transfer
    will fails. Fixed now.

o When using -P to specify the proxy server information
and not giving the port number, the transfer will fails.
    Fixed now.

o A bug exists in using -I to relocate image links. Fixed
    now.

o Previous version of hcopy is sometimes unable to login
    NcFTPd 1.9.6 server. Fixed now.

o If the domain name in the given URL is not an IP address
form, but begins with a digit, then hcopy fails. Fixed
    now.

hcopy v2.1d new features (.) or modifications (o) :

. New option -OUTDATE[-|+] to mark all posts in the news-
group as read, i.e., to remember all MSGIDs in that news-
group but not decode or save posts. (NNTP only)

o Better name guessing in NNTP downloading.

o In the directory list downloaded via FTP, the read/write
permission is not listed correctly. Fixed now.

o When download failed, HTTP sometimes display the error
    message twice. Fixed now.

o If -RETRY is given, FTP will not re-try the specified
times after connection error. Fixed now.

hcopy v2.1c new features (.) or modifications (o) :

. FTP upload new change: the remote_url in command line
should be a directory. The local_path can be a directory
, it can also have filename part, and the filename can
    also contain wildcards '*' and/or '?'.

o Due to the auther's mistake in v2.1b, the HTTP download
will truncate the original file when "Not modified". It
    is fixed now.

hcopy v2.1b new features (.) or modifications (o) :

o When no ID given in the command-line, NNTP will still try
to login the remote server anonymously. But this is not
accepted by some kinds of NNTP servers. So this try is
    cancled now.

hcopy v2.1a new features (.) or modifications (o) :

. NNTP downloading is much more enhanced. Read the "About
NNTP downloading" section in the document for more
    details

. New option -DECODE[+|-]. The '+' (default) will make NNTP
decode files UU- or Base64-encoded inside any new post
automatically. If -DECODE- is given, hcopy will store new
posts into a file in its original form. The file name
of the stored file can be specified in local_path in the
command-line. If the given one is an existing directory,
or is ended in '/' or '\' character, the default file
name is "<group_name>.msg" . (NNTP only)

. New option -MINROWS=<#> to specify a minimum rows of
posts to be taken care. When hcopy is scanning the
newsgroup, only posts having enough rows more then
the specified will be scanned. This will save much time
on scanning samll posts that seems not possible to have
    encoded files inside. (NNTP only)

. New option -FL=<file> to specify the file name of the
file description list which is created for decoded files
when NNTP has completed its downloading. The default one
    is ~files.lst (NNTP only)

  . New modified option -CONFIG[+|-][*] . The additional '*'
will make hcopy to store the command-line configuration
for global users in this computer. When any user in this
computer executes hcopy, it will looks for that user's
personal configuration first. If not found, hcopy adopts
    the global one.

Given -CONFIG without a '+' or '-' attached will display
the command-line configuration for current user. -CONFIG*
    will display the global configuration.

Note! The -CONFIG+ of previous version of hcopy only
stores its configuration for personal user only. When
hcopy is executed via Schedule service, the executer will
be the system account. And the configuration saved by the
original user will not be refered under such situation.
If you want the command-line configuration be shared by
yourself and the system account or other accounts, you
should save the it via -CONFIG* option.

o The -D option in previous version is renamed to -H now.
The old -DIR is renamed to -D.

. The command-line configuration saved by -CONFIG includes
the options -D (old -DIR), -H, -FL, -RETRY, and -MINROWS
    now.

. When giving -D[=file] (old -DIR) , The file name of the
stored directory list file can also be specified in
local_path in the command-line. If the given one is an
existing directory, or is ended in '/' or '\' character,
the default file name is "~dir.lst" . (FTP only)

o HTTP has problem in download pages from Apache v1.3b3
    Server. Fixed now.

o The option -DIR of FTP leaves an empty directory list
file when connection failed. It is fixed in this version.

o In the file list generated by NNTP, unknown file names
(*.TMP) are not listed corrected. Also, a problem in
decoding UU-encoded files. Both are fixed now.

hcopy v2.0a new features (.) or modifications (o) :

. New option -DIR[=<file>] to (recursively) list remote FTP
directory and store it into a formally formated directory
    list file. (FTP only)

. New option -F=<file>. This will give the first uploaded
or downloaded file a new file name. (HTTP and FTP only)

. New option -RL (FTP only). This makes HCOPY to include
    Unix's link-style sub-directories when recursively
    downloading.

. New option -RETRY=<count#> to limit the retrying times
for a failed downloading or uploading. If this count is
exceeded during any session, HCOPY will terminates.
    Default is un-limited.

. URL in hcopy command line can have CGI query string now.
    For example, hcopy "http://nti.dj.net.tw/cgi-bin/mycgi.ex
e?name=lee&age=19". The stored object will have the name
of the requested CGI unless the new option -F is given.

Note that CGI query string (the string after '?') usually
contains '&' characters. To avoid your command-line
interpreter mis-interpretting them, your should put a
pair of double quotes around the URL.

. When NNTP is scanning the newsgroup, a scanning status
indicating the # of being scanned article is added.

. Transfering rate added in each hcopy status message of
    complete copying.

. When terminates, hcopy will return an errorlevel for the
calling batch file's IF ERRORLEVEL statements to branch.
If executed successfully, or file not modified, or non-
connection error (such as file not found) , hcopy returns
    0. If failed, or the specified first file or directory
    doesn't exist, hcopy returns 255.

o When using -E+ of FTP to remove remote files but not
having enough permission, hcopy show the same error
    message twice. It's fixed now.

o Fix a bug about HTTP unable to get a URL containning
    space or '@' character

o Fix a bug about NNTP unable to login to some old versions
    of NNTP server anonymously.

hcopy v1.9f new features (.) or modifications (o) :

. New option -CF added. -C+ only duplicate the directory
tree under the specified directory. However, The -CF will
also duplicate the directory route above the specified
    directory.

o In previous version of hcopy, -C+ of FTP only duplicate
the directory tree under the specified directory. But -C+
of HTTP posseses the same function as -CF does. In this
version of hcopy, the -C option's functions are unified
    as described above.

hcopy v1.9e new features (.) or modifications (o) :

. New option -U+ which makes FTP to upload to the specified
    remote URL rather than download.

. When -C is active (default) , FTP will only build the
directory tree under the source directory at the
destination directory. It won't build the directory route
above the source directory at the destination directory
any more. HTTP holds the same as before.

. HTTP will try again when receiving a Location header
which points to a new URL.

. When specifying a directory in FTP , the trailing '/'
    character is no more necessary.

. NNTP is enhanced to be more tolerant to faults.

o FTP with option "-R" now can handle URL pathes prefixed
    with a "<drive>:" specification now, where, <drive> is a
driver letter of MS-DOS or Windows system.

o FTP now can download files from most versions or clones
    of SunOSs' FTP daemons.

o Fix a bug in downloading the Unix-styled link entries

o The leading "../" path part (if any) of destination_dir
is ignored in old versions of hcopy, and is fixed in this
    version.

hcopy v1.9d new features (.) or modifications (o) :

. The prefix character of each status line: '@' indicates
"OK", '!' for "Warnning", and '*' for "Error"

o FTP of hcopy now can download files from SunOS's WUFTP
    daemons

o Much more resistant to HTML pages with bad markup syntax

hcopy v1.9c new features (.) or modifications (o) :

. Given -CONFIG+ option alone in the hcopy command-line
can display current saved configuration of hcopy.

. New option -O, whether or not to overwrite existing files
without comparing their timestamps. + for yes, - for no
(default). -O is equivalent to -O+.

o FTP of hcopy now can download files with Windows NT or 95
formated long-filename from remote FTP servers

o More resistant to HTML pages with bad markup syntax
