[This Vangelis "filmography/videography" is a section from a expanded
Vangelis discography I am compiling. The intention, of course, is to as
excruciatingly detailed as possible in documenting film, TV (ballet, etc.)
productions to which Vangelis had a musical contribution. I'd appreciate
any help in filling in missing pieces and correcting mistakes. With such a
large international readership I'm hoping to unearth many unknown (to me)
and unusual releases. If you have a contribution, please email me,
keith@celtech.com, and *not* the list. I don't want to clutter up the list
with endless submissions which may not be of interest to all and especially
don't want the list to become "Keith's Pet Discography Project" (I've heard
other music lists have bogged down this way). I *will* summarize and post
updates to the list, however.

The format is based on that used in a similar section of the Tangerine
Dream discography "Voices in the Dunes" by Rolf Sonnemann, Peter Stoeferle
and Matt Hargreaves, but expanded to include video release information.
I don't know if there is a standard for filmographies (as there is for
bibliographies), but this one seems like a very good basis.

At the very least, each entry should include the basic film credits
including the production company, distributor, studio, etc., in addition
to director, cast (as many as possible), screenwriter, author of the book
the film was based on (if applicable), the country of origin and released
date (exact month, day and year, if possible), run time of original film
release (and alternate cuts), and MPAA (and other international) rating.
Alternative titles are needed, also.

As for the video release information, take a look at the BLADE RUNNER
entry to see how extensive this can get. Run times vary greatly even
between simutaneous VHS and laserdisc releases so I'd like this information
also (and if the run time stated on the box differs from the video itself).
Being in the US, I really am low on information on PAL releases (Beta format,
too). Also, all the little video "features" (such as, "VHS HiFi", "CAV",
"Dolby B NR", etc.) help to uniquely identify a release.

Question marks flag the blank spots that need filling in. I admit to brazenly
guessing on some aspects of a film or its video release. Please correct me
if need be! In some cases, I have grouped an item's videotape and laserdisc
release together as if they were released at the same time. This is usually
a guess and is probably only correct in most cases.

I will be posting the rest of the sections soon. The sections include:

	1.	Studio Albums
	2.	Motion Picture Soundtrack Albums
	3.	12" Extended Play Singles (EPs)
	4.	7" Singles
	5.	Compact Disc Singles
	6.	Compositions
	7.	Concerts
	8.	Film, Television, Video and Theatre Music
	9.	Interviews: Professional and Fantapes
	10.	Collaborations, Guest Appearences, As a Band Member
	11.	Covers
	12.	Bootlegs

See a separate message, "Full Vangelis Discography Project," for further
information.

On a related note, I have also compiled a similar "filmography" for
Tangerine Dream. I will post this to the tadream list soon.
