ColorCodeCatcher (CCC) is a Win95/98 utility that gets you the
hex code of any color on your screen. Say you're designing your
Web homepage (as we all do nowadays) and you see this delectable
color in some image file or some running program. You'd like to
use it in your HTML script, eg.

  <body bgcolor="#fffff1" link="#0000ff" vlink="#008080">

--but of course you dunno what its so-called color code is.
(Who's expected to know these things?) Well, just run CCC, point
the cursor anywhere on the screen at the color you fancy, and CCC
will reflect that color in its own window, and show its hex code,
like those in the above example.

CCC stays topmost even when inactive, so's you can always see the
reflected colors and codes. (Of course, if you want it out of the
way temporarily, just minimize CCC.)

When you left-click your target color (outside of CCC's window),
the hex code is automatically copied to the clipboard. You can
then click on your editor window to paste this hex string
directly onto your HTML script.

That's it. And that's all, really. They don't call me a
minimalist programmer for nothing! In this age of gargantuan
applications, CCC is just one small EXE, a "pocket" utility which
you can run from any folder/directory. It does not need any
setting-up or supporting DLLs, does not write to the Registry or
WIN.INI, and does not spawn any files anywhere.

Is this exciting enough? Ok, just to spice things up a trifle,
CCC does play some nifty beat music while it's active. Only a few
measures from ARYX.S3M composed by Karsten Koch, used here with
his kind permission. But you should really visit Koch's site at

  http://www.uni-weimar.de/~koch3/imago/acm/page/demos.html

to get his music modules which are highly regarded by MOD/S3M
enthusiasts. Enough or what? Well, ok, just one last thrill about
an "undocumented" feature. If you should prefer silence while
using CCC (heavens to Murgatroyd, skip this thumping beat
music?!), just press the "S" key to toggle off the music. Or
press it again to toggle on.

CCC is essentially freeware. But if you like it and use it and
can afford to show your appreciation in monetary terms, the
author looks forward to receiving an amount of your choice
(unless in Singapore currency, do allow for US$10 bank charges):
