WINPEXNAD 1.0 REQUIREMENTS AND INSTALLATION

WinExpand is a very simple program. So simple that I don't
believe it to deserve its own installation program. And I don't
include it in this ZIP file. First, it takes me less work, and also
decreases ZIP file lenght.

REQUIREMENTS:

To run WinExpand properly, you must (at least):

-Have EXPAND.EXE v. 2.00 or higher, wich is included in MS-DOS
version 6 or later (not included in this ZIP file).

-Have the EXPAND.EXE file in your DOS or Windows directory.

-Have Windows 3.1 or 3.11 (Windows 95 users see "WinExpand
1.0 and Windows 95" later in this text).

-Have a 386 or higher PC computer, with at least 4 MB RAM.

PROGRAM FILES:

The program itself are only 5 files. The following table
describes them and they target directory on your hard disk:

	FILE DESCRIPTION DIRECTORY

1.- WINEXPAN.EXE -> WinExpand executable program -> Any directory

2.- WINEXPAN.PIF -> Microsoft's EXPAND 2.10
configuration file -> Same directory as WINEXPAN.EXE

3.- TEMP.BAT -> DOS file to run Expand -> Same directory as WINEXPAN.EXE

3.- VBRUN300.DLL -> Visual Basic runtime library -> Windows System directory

4.- THREED.VBX -> Visual Basic support library -> Windows System directory

NOTE: May be you will notice that you already have some of these
files installed in your hard disk. If so, you must only replace
them if those supplied with WinExpand are newer than your ones.

SET-UP PROCESS:

Here are the set-up process steps:

1.-Create a new directory for WinExpand in your hard disk (Ex: winexpan),
and/or copy files 1, 2 and 3 to any existing directory.

2.-Copy files 3 and 4 to your Windows System directory.

3.-In your Program Manager create a new program group and program item
	  to easyly start WinExand.

4.- If you choose a different directory than C:\WINEXPAN then

a.- In the Main group of the Program Manager, start the PIF Editor.

b.- Open WINEXPAN.PIF, and change command line to the correct path to
		    your TEMP.BAT.

		c.- Save changes to WINEXPAN.PIF

4.-If wished, copy INFO.TXT and INSTALL.TXT to WinExpand directory.

-----> BE SURE THAT EXPAND.EXE IS IN YOUR DOS OR WINDOWS DIRECTORY <-----

That's all. No hidden, INI or DLL files other than these will be added to your
disk.

WINEXPAND 1.0 AND WINDOWS 95:

If you plan to use WinExpand 1.0 under Windows 95 you my know some things:

-MS-DOS 7.0 is the DOS version provided with Windows 95.

-MS-DOS 7.0 doesn't include EXPAND compressor, but EXTRACT.

-Managing Windows 95 PIF files is different than in Windows 3.1 or 3.11.

So, you must act this way if you want WinExpand to work properly:

-Follow steps 1 and 2 of "SET-UP process" section.

-Create a new folder and/or a new shortcut to WinExpand.

-Place EXPAND.EXE in your Windows directory.

-Open the Windows Explorer and go to the folder where WinExpand is located.

		-Select WINEXPAN.PIF icon.

-Press the right button of your mouse.

-Select Properties option from the pop-up menu.

-Select Program tab in the dialog box that appears.

-In the Command line text box, type the full path to your TEMP.BAT

		-Select the OK button.

-If wished, copy INFO.TXT and INSTALL.TXT to WinExpand directory.
