                AMP.EXE v1.0a Audio MPEG-I decoder

What :

    AMP is a Audio MPEG-I decoder. Its a alpha of a real-time
STEREO/8-16 bit/32-44-48 Khz playback utility. Currently AMP gets real time
performance on a sx33 (on my dx4/100 it gets 205k samlpes/sec). Output
at the moment is however to a file in the .WAV format. A .WAV file can be
played by the likes of Wave Studio for Windoze etc. AMP, derived from the
exellent utility Maplay1_2, from

            Tobias Bading (bading@cs.tu-berlin.de)
            Jim Boucher (jboucher@flash.bu.edu)
            Louis P. Kruger (lpkruger@phoenix.princeton.edu)

has been optimised for ix86 (and other =) architectures. AMP is now 8-9 times
faster than the original.

Usage :

               AMP.EXE [ /q[1..8] ] [/16] [/r] [/g_gain_] mpeg_file[.mp2]

/q indicates the quality factor of the output, this varies both the
quality and speed of decoding, 1 -> fastest, 8 -> best quality.

    /8 forces 8-bit output

/r forces output in the .RAW format, also acepted by wave studio
.RAW files are just the raw sample data.

/g_gain_ where _gain_ is applied to the output. If you find clicks in the
output, try using a smaller gain.

    For mamimum sound quality use

                    amp_f file_name /8

Also using a *huge* cache is advisable =)
