File Searcher

__/What is this?

You can search the harddrive for a filename and you can search a file
for a word, but what if you want to search for a word in multiple
files?
The answer is File Searcher! It can search the files you specify for
the words you choose. You can then edit the matched files with the
associated program or with an editor of your choice. It can search in
both ASCII text files (like this one!) and binary files.

__/Changes:

Version 1.01.04
Fixed a bug when adding a multiple selection to the list.

Version 1.01.03
	Initial release

__/Simple Instructions:

Place the program anywhere you want.

IMPORTANT: This program requires the file MSVBVM50.DLL. If you haven't
got it, download them from my homepage and place it in your
Windows\System directory. My URL is http://home5.swipnet.se/~w-55489/

Enter the search string in the text box at the top. The files will be
searched for the entire string, not for each word.

Use the drive box and directory box to find your way to the directory
containing the file(s) you want to search.

Add the files you want to search by either double-clicking upon it or by
selecting it from the list and then pressing the "<" button. You can
add all the files in the current directory by pressing the "<<" button.

You can select files from different directories but you cannot select
the same file twice.

If you want to remove a file from the list, either double-click upon it
or select it from the list and press the ">" button. You can clear the
entire list by pressing the ">>" button.

The Status display shows the number of files and the total amount of
bytes to search. A high amount can take considerable time to search.

When you are done, press the "Search" button to begin the search. You
must have entered at least one keyword and one file before you can
begin the search.

You can see the overall progress to the left. The current file being
searched are shown in the Status display along with the number of
matched files.

If a binary file is being search, you can see how much of the file that
has been read within the parentheses to the left. If you feel it's
taking too long time, you can press the "Skip" button next to the
"Stop" button to skip this file and move on to the next one. (Note: The
file was not searched as it was not entirely read.)

When the search is completed, the matched files, if any, are displayed
in the Results display. The Status display shows how many they are
along with the number of searched files.

You can edit any matched files by pressing the Edit button to the
right. You can use either the associated program or an editor of your
choice.

You can open the About box by pressing F1 or selecting it from the '?'
menu. If you click on the mail address, the default mail client will
be executed. Likewise, if you press the URL, the default web browser
will be executed and you will be taken to my homepage. =P

In the 'Options' menu are some items that will open a new window with
preferences. See below for details.

OPTIONS:
--File Editor--
*Default:
Use the associated program for the filetype. Not necessary an
editor. If the file is a program, it will be executed.
*User Defined:
Edit the file using the editor you specify. Enter the file or
press the Browse button to select an editor.
*Ask:
Ask you what to do. Press 'Yes' to open the file with the
associated program and 'No' to use your editor. Press 'Cancel'
to abort. (NOTE: If you are using a non-English version of
Windows, then the buttons will be named differently. You can
probably figure out which one to press, though =P)

--Read Method--
*ASCII:
Read the files as text files only. This will skip any binary
files you specify. The fastest option, although all files is
	not searched.
*Binary:
Read binary files in binary mode. Non-binary files are still
read in ASCII mode. Reading binary files takes time and they
	seldom contain plain text.
A binary file contains the special character 'Null' (Character
0). This character cannot be read in ASCII mode and it's
replaced with a space before searching the file in binary mode.
All programs and many data files are binary files.
*Ask:
Ask you what to do if a binary file is found. Press 'Yes' to
read it in binary mode or 'No' to skip it. Press 'Cancel' to
stop the search. (NOTE: Again the there are differences in the
languages, but we've already been trough all that...)
