NewFolder for Windows 9x (not for NT)
Version 1.73
 1998 by Roger Sondermann <r.so@usa.net>
http://www.neuss.netsurf.de/~sonderma/newfolder.html
http://www.neuss.netsurf.de/~sonderma/download/folder_e.exe (English)
http://www.neuss.netsurf.de/~sonderma/download/folder_g.exe (German)

NewFolder is an Explorer add-on. It works with an invisible running
batch file, which will create one or multiple new folders, with or with-
out subfolders, in one step. NewFolder also works in MS-DOS mode.

What's new ? See "Changes"

Install
-------
 1. Extract folder_e.zip (English) or folder_g.zip (German) to a folder
of your choice, but choose a folder with a short name (not more than
    eight characters).
 2. Right-click on folder.inf, choose "Install" or "Installieren".
 3. Delete the extracted files.

For updates: Uninstall all previous installations (including the Regi-
stry-keys) as described in the ReadMe which belongs to the
             specific version.

Usage
-----
 1. Right-click on a drive or folder (Explorer tree-view side), choose
"New folders here" or "Neue Ordner hier" (German version) and type
    in the new folder-name(s).

    Examples:

     Input: Folders:

      name1 ...\name1

      name1 name2 ...\name1
                                         ...\name2

 2. To create folders with subfolders you have to place the parameter @
between a folder and his subfolders. The subfolder-levels (not the
subfolders) are limited to 10. I can change this limitation, mail me
    if it is really necessary.

    Examples:

     Input: Folders:

      name1 @ name2 ...\name1
                                         ...\name1\name2

      name1 @ name2 name3 ...\name1
                                         ...\name1\name2
                                         ...\name1\name3

      name1 name2 @ name3 ...\name1
                                         ...\name2
                                         ...\name2\name3

      name1 @ name2 @ name3 ...\name1
                                         ...\name1\name2
                                         ...\name1\name2\name3

      name1 name2 @ name3 @ name4 ...\name1
                                         ...\name2
                                         ...\name2\name3
                                         ...\name2\name3\name4

      name1 @ name2 name3 @ name4 ...\name1
                                         ...\name1\name2
                                         ...\name1\name3
                                         ...\name1\name3\name4

      name1 @ name2 @ name3 name4 ...\name1
                                         ...\name1\name2
                                         ...\name1\name2\name3
                                         ...\name1\name2\name4

With the parameter @ you set the working-directory to the last new
    folder before this parameter.

 3. To set the working-directory one level upwards use the parameter #.
This is useful for creating multiple folders with subfolders from
    the same working-directory.

    Examples:

     Input: Folders:

      name1 @ name2 # name3 @ name4 ...\name1
                                         ...\name1\name2
                                         ...\name3
                                         ...\name3\name4

      name1 @ name2 @ name3 # name4 ...\name1
                                         ...\name1\name2
                                         ...\name1\name2\name3
                                         ...\name1\name4

      name1 @ name2 @ name3 # # name4 ...\name1
                                         ...\name1\name2
                                         ...\name1\name2\name3
                                         ...\name4

 4. Folder-names containing spaces must be quoted.

    Examples:

     Input: Folders:

      "name1 name2" ...\name1 name2

      "name1 name2" "name3 name4" ...\name1 name2
                                         ...\name3 name4

      "name1 name2" @ "name3 name4" ...\name1 name2
                                         ...\name1 name2\name3 name4

      name1 @ "name2 name3" ...\name1
                                         ...\name1\name2 name3

      "name1 name2" @ name3 ...\name1 name2
                                         ...\name1 name2\name3

 5. More options (using "setdate" from Geoff Cutter):

    - type 'date to use the current date as folder-name [12-10-98]
    - type 'day to use the current day as folder-name [Mo]
    - type 'time to use the current time as folder-name [11h30m]

    Examples (executed at 12-10-98 11:30):

     Input: Folders:

      backup @ 'date @ 'time ...\backup
                                         ...\backup\12-10-98
                                         ...\backup\12-10-98\11h30m

      backup @ 'day @ 'time ...\backup
                                         ...\backup\Monday
                                         ...\backup\Monday\11h30m

You will get the <'>-sign by pressing <SHIFT> and <#>.

If you want to use this options you have to download "setdate":

      or
    - ftp://garbo.uwasa.fi/pc/batchutil/setdatec.zip

Extract the archive and copy the files setdate.com and setdate.doc
    into your "path".

    - e.g. c:\windows\command or c:\win95\command

 6. Other examples (wrong inputs and their results):

All @-parameters will be ignored if their position is not the first
    behind a folder- or subfolder-name.
All # parameters will be ignored if the current working-directory
is already the working-directory from which NewFolder was executed.

     Input: Folders:

      @ name1 ...\name1

      # name1 ...\name1

      @ # name1 ...\name1

      # @ name1 ...\name1

      name1 @ # ...\name1

      name1 # @ ...\name1

      name1 @ # name2 ...\name1
                                         ...\name2

      name1 # @ name2 ...\name1
                                         ...\name2

      name1 @ # @ name2 ...\name1
                                         ...\name2

      name1 @ @ # name2 ...\name1
                                         ...\name2

      Special:

      @ ...\@

      # ...\#

 7. Please notice that all parts of your input-line must be separated
with spaces. The input-line is also limited to 126 characters (in-
cluding spaces and the @- and #-parameters).

 8. NewFolder also works in MS-DOS mode. Change to the folder to which
you want to add new folders and execute folder.bat as described be-
fore. To see the syntax type: folder /? from the command-line.

UnInstall
---------
Use "Add/Remove Programs" in "Control Panel" (search for NewFolder).

Changes
-------
1.73 Added a "beep" to show that NewFolder has finished (DOS-box only)
Changed the 'day-option to use the full name of the day

1.72 NewFolder finds setdate.com anywhere in your path now.
Fixed an error when 'date 'day or 'time were executed "alone" (e.g.
     without additional folder-name).

1.70 Added the option to use the current "date" "day" or "time" as fol-
der-name, when "setdate" (not included in the NewFolder-archive) is
     installed
(Many thanks to Geoff Cutter who wrote "setdate")

1.60 Changed the meaning of parameter #
Removed the limitation of nine parts for the input-line
Removed the option to enter folder-names containing spaces without
using quotes (Sorry Don, but the new commands do not accept it)

NewFolder is installed by an *.inf-file now to support systems on
which Win95 is not installed to c:\windows

It is impossible to compile this version to an executable without
losing the option to use the Win95-specific quotes for folder-names
containing spaces. So if you want to edit the batch-file, do it but
dont mail me, when your changes will not work.

1.50 Changed the meaning of parameter @
Added parameter # (replaces a part of the old @)
Added the option to add a subfolder to a new folder whose name
     contains spaces
     Added MS-DOS support
Changed the file-name from "NFolder" to "folder" for better under-
     standing in MS-DOS mode

1.42 Changes to make it easier to install NewFolder manual, when Win95
     is not in c:windows

1.41 Because of too many questions like: "I have changed something in
NFolder.bat and now it does not run. Can you tell me how to ..."
I decided to compile the batch-files in the future.

1.40 Added the option to place the parameter @ at all parts of the in-
put-line to create subfolders from the folder-names behind @
Changed the number of possible folders to the given limit of para-
     meters

1.30 Added the option to create a folder with subfolders

1.21 Changed the md-command to enter folder-names containing spaces
     without using quotes
(Thanks to Don Glass for his idea how to do this)

1.2 Added parameter @ to create multiple folders

1.1 Only cosmetic

1.0 First release
