 WHAT'S THIS?

The Pinco's Commander is a fantastic file manager "Norton"-like.
This project started because i hate pressing ALT-F1 & ALT-F2 keys to change
current drive (and because i have free time to spend).
This program was written in Borland Pascal 7, the only language i know
 excluding Italian.
Hereafter a list of most important features, they are the ones i remember,
of course i think i won't write the other ones... 8-)

   It's *FREE*!

Copies, moves and deletes files and/or whole directories,

Use XMS when copying and moving files! Ludicrous Speeeeeeed!

Change file attributes, directory tree attributes (!)

   External applications men.

Play .WAV and .VOC files with Sound Blaster.

Playes mono wav files in *STEREO* (!), to be more precise, in
    PincoStereo(TM): totally awesome!

Can play WAV files as error messages

Pinco's Viewer lets you read files (any size) in text, binary or hex mode

Adjustable system colors (you may chose from the entire 262144 color palette!!!)

   PKZip(R) Compression

   ZIP, ARJ and RAR Decompression

Creazione di files compressi in formato ZIP
 (*** ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^questa non l'ho capita ***)

   Ludicrous "void style" keys

   Ludicrous exit(TM)

   Estension file association

   Integrated Pinco's formatter

   File and string find

   25,*28*,*30*,*34*,*40*,43,50,*60* rows Text modes!

EMS/XMS/disk swap cause P's C to use only 208 bytes of conventional memory when
    executing other programs!

The first program using SCROLL LOCK !!!
    (activates command line bar)

   Shows directory tree disk usage

"GianUguaglia"(TM): Pressing the 2 "shift" keys other dir. tree changes
    to current dir.

 INSTALLATION

There is no installaton program, forget wizards or other unuseful things!
This is a genuine DOS program, you just have to create a directory in your HD
(eg. C:\PC) and unzip there the distribution file.
 Run PC.EXE .
N.B: Other EXE files are used internally by Pinco's Commander, don't try to load
       them!

 IMPORTANT!

 1. This program requires a 100% compatible VGA card and 80286 processor,
    a 12Mhz 286 (like mine) is just fine .
 2. DON'T LOAD RESIDENT DRIVERS OR PROGRAMS during Pinco's Commander execution.
If you do it, you'll see a fantastic crash, even if your computer don' t
    have wheels.
 3. Read file PC.TXT; it is an Highly-compressed summary of keyboard commands
and mouse usage. It should be also complete :)
 4. "Wav messages" option was implemented due to the continuous stress caused
by some betatesters (to be more precise : "The Eminence" and "Dux").
This option will cause strange behaviors when using PC under MS Windows or
under any program using Sound Blaster (Eg: Cubic Player).
    Be careful!

 TRANSLATIONS

Pinco's Commander exists in 4 flavours:

  1. Italian [PCXXITA.ZIP] XX=versione
  2. *Veneto* by Pimperle [PCXXDV.ZIP]
  3. *Latin* by Dux [PCXXLAT.ZIP]
  4. English by Void [PCXXENG.ZIP]

If you want to translate PC in any other language you can contact me, you'll
receive a file to translate and its instructions.
Then i've only to recompile and test the result, if everything will be ok
the new version of PC will be released.

 CONTACTING THE MIGHTY AUTHOR

Thank you for reading this file: i spent a lot of time to write this and the
whole program, give me at least this satisfication :-)
*non ho il vocabolario sotto mano, per favore, controlla sta' frase che mi
 suona MOOOOOOOLTO MALE*

As you could see this program is *CardWare*, a new and totally revolutionary
distribution strategy : user can use, copy, distribute, spread this software
respecting terms expressed in "terms of distribution" chapter.

So you are safe, i don't want money (well, if you really want, you can send
 me something :-) ).

To give you an idea of my economic situation i tell you that this program
was written with : 80286 (12Mhz) with 2Mb ram and 40Mb hard disk!

Before upgrading your poor PC to Pentium(r) or any other silly thing remember
 me :)

Registering this program only costs a post card or a simple message in which
you tell me your impressions, suggestions, bugs, etc...

 GREETINGS

Here you are a list of the persons who contributed (some of them without
knowing it :-) ) to this program:

Paolo Didon alias Pablo - Beta Testing, various suggestions (compressed file
name previsiom like rar, continuous request of a command line like NC). He is
one of the small team protecting me against the "Nortonians" continuous
  attacks :-).

Dario De Agostini aka Void - Beta testing, various suggestions ("Void style"
keys, ludicrous exit, continuous request of a command line like NC).
He is the one who entered me in Deathmatch dimension :-) It is the author
of this spaghetti english version, don't blame him for this. (PCXXENG.ZIP)

Davide Sarasin aka Cilius - Beta testing, various suggestions (directory
selection with '+' and '-', 2 parameter batch files. He is famous because
he noticed me a HUGE amount of bugs AFTER i've fixed them :-) ).
One of the more costant betatesters.

Stefano Bisello aka The Master, "the only fidonet point able to read but
not to write" ;-))))) - Beta testing, various suggestions (Alt-F11 mode,
continuous request of a command line like NC. Finally i've done this
  &#*@%$! command line :-) ).

Roberto Griggio aka The Gray eminence - Beta testing, various suggestions.
He proposed "Airbladder" as program name because "this is a program that
lets you swing in the hard disk". He is a mad scientist, a neglected genius,
a great "Nortonian". He has also a great bug, he is proud to live in Santa
  Maria di Non.

Paolo Rigobello aka Rigo - Beta testing, various suggestions. He is a
serious beta tester, but he isn't a fidonet point and don't use too much
  his computer. (!)

Paolo Salvan aka Paolo :-) - Beta testing, various suggestions, Asm
consulence, betatester scout :-). If exists an in line help you should
greet him. The only (sage) Pascal-ian betatester! :-) But he has also a
problem, he continue using 4DOS :-(

Gian Maria Romanato aka Supergiamma - Beta testing, various suggestions.
If every MS betatester was like you !!! (configurable command line, Scroll
lock state saving, "GianUguaglia(TM)" (ShiftDX+ShiftSX)... and many other
  that i don't remember!).
The best betatester. Most of the upgrades that you'll find in the next
version have been suggested by him.
*occhio al supergiamma, l'ho aggiunto io *

Nicola Norbiato aka Nick Norbio - Beta testing, various suggestions.
This man has the power of crash EVERY computer using only his mind (!).
It was a shame that he couldn't test PC for more time :-)

Andrea Siviero aka Pimperle - Beta testing, various suggestions. He made
  "dialetto veneto" version.
*i lresto purtropo non so come tradurlo decentemente *
"Veneto" version is distributed in file PCXXDV.ZIP (but if you are reading
this you probably won't check that version :-) )

Silvio Gomiero aka Dux - Beta testing, various suggestions, weapons and
munitions of any flavour :-). One of my great mates which modifies WAV files.
He is the Latin version of PC: mighy ! (PCXXLAT.ZIP)

Giorgio Campi aka The Boss - Beta testing, various suggestions. He is the
other great "WAV mate" :-). He used PC without wanting it but giving its
feedback :-). Now it's time to fix his keyboard, i'm tired to take my own
  one in EVERY Deathmatch! :-)

Francesco Frison aka Checco - Beta testing, various suggestions, another
great "WAV mate". He is doing a particular intro (commercial style) for
Pinco's Commander (obviously in WAv format :-) )

Fabio Tudone aka Fabio :-) - *Involuntary* beta testing, various suggestions.
He is one admitting the brute force of Pinco's Commander.

Daniele Vistalli - Disk swap, how to use it.

  Henning Jorgensen - Formatting routines.

  Jos Almeida - Key codes.

  Ralph Brown - Disk swap.

Robert Swart - i don't remember why he helped me, but he did it :)

Andree Borrmann - Sound Blaster handling routines.

Tapio ijl - Sound Blaster handling routines.

Tutti gli altri - if there are, i greet them!

 END

This is the end, my friend.
