Introduction
------------

FMTuner is a program to control FM radio cards. It lets you scan the
FM "dial" for radio stations and store them in a "preset" list along
with the station name, ID, and/or slogan. The interface is completely
customizable using "skins". Events can be set to turn the tuner on and
off and/or change the station. Snooze lets you turn off the radio
after a specific elapsed time, or at a specific time .

The program is compatible with the following FM-Radio cards:

	* Aztech
	* Packard-Bell
	* CompExpress

Note: Support for the Aims Labs RadioTrack is planned for a
future release. Please e-mail us if you are interested.

Shareware and Registration
--------------------------

FMTuner is shareware. The cost to register is $15. Unregistered
copies will display a 30 second shareware notice and will be limited
to 5 minutes operation per session. By registering you will receive
a code that will remove the time restrictions and will be valid for
this and all future FMTuner releases.

To register:

1. Read the "licence.txt" file.
2. Read and fill out the registration form "regform.txt" and
   e-mail it to: gmarcos@scs.ryerson.ca or sgray@asc.ryerson.ca
2. You will be sent instructions via e-mail explaining where to
   send payment.
3. Allow two to three weeks processing time if paying by cheques.
4. You will receive a registration code via e-mail.

Installation
------------

FMTuner is available in two forms:

	1) Full package with setup program and runtimes
	2) Mini package without setup or runtimes

If you download the full package simply unzip the files and run the
setup program. Installation will create a directory for your files and
add the program to the start menu. Installing the full package is
recommended.

You should only download the mini pack if you know for certain that
you have all the proper runtime files and are comfortable installing
files manually.

  Required for the mini package:
	- VB5 (sp3) runtime files
	- Common dialog, Tab, and 3D controls

Installation files may be placed in any directory. The fmtuner.dll
file must be copied to the windows\system directory. For convenience
you might want to create a shortcut to the program on your desktop.

Operation
---------

FMTuner supports "skins", which are loadable interfaces. Since the
interface is fully definable buttons text and other elements may or
may not be available. The following section describes all the possible
elements and their function. Because button appearance can change,
only the functions are described, not thier appearance. FMTuner
supports tooltips for all the elements, so if you are unsure of an
element's function simply hold the mouse over the element for a few
seconds and it's description will appear.

FMTuner is supplied with a fully-functional default skin, which is
linked to a small "micro" skin with very limited function. Additional
skins are available on our home page. If you have developed an FMTuner
skin that you would like to share please e-mail it so we can add it
to our FMTuner skin download page!

The FMTuner audio can be turned on and off under program control.
This lets you use the radio as an "alarm" to wake you in the morning
or to shut it off at the end of the day. You can automatically
tune to specific presets at specified times to tune your favorite
shows.

FMTuner features a handy tray icon to control the basic functions
of the program, such as when the main window is minimized or hidden.
By right-clicking on the tray you will get a popup menu to tune, scan,
or display the preferences screen. Left-clicking the tray icon will
re-display the main window.

All functions can controlled using simple keyboard commands.

The preference screen lets you set all the options for the program
including tuner card type and address, startup and shutdown options,
events, snooze and also let's you view this manual.
