Thermostat Controller Help Page
To use the Mini-Web Server you must have Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher installed on the computer. Netscape navigator will not work with this program.
If you have IIS or personal web server installed on you home PC than you will have to either stop the personal web server or change the port that the Mini-Web Server is listening on. By default the Mini-Web Server listens on port 80 which is the standard port for internet communication. To change the port go to the Setting page under the Web Server menu.
To connect to your home PC remotely simply sign on to the internet and type in your home computer IP address into the address bar of the Internet Explorer. To find your IP address simply start command prompt or MS-Dos and type in ipconfig, your IP Address will be shown (You must be sign on the internet when doing this). If you have a static IP then your IP address will stay the same each time you log onto the internet. If you have a dynamic IP address, then you IP address will change each time you log onto the internet.
If you get an error that says address already in use then make sure no personal web server is running. Shutdown and restart your program. Or try a different port number. (i.e. 8888, 3333, or 8080)
Before you can log unto your home computer from the internet you must make sure the Mini-Web Server is started by hitting Start under the Web Server menu. Also make sure that you turn the web server off before shutting down this program. If you don't do this then you want be able to restart the web server unless you reboot you computer.
