For Toshiba Card Manager 3.0 online distribution

Toshiba is pleased to be able to make Toshiba Card Manager 3.0 available for 
download from Toshiba America's electronic services.  Toshiba Card Manager 3.0
is a set of PCMCIA 2.01 compliant PCMCIA card & socket services software. 
Toshiba America Information Systems has bundled this software on a number of 
portable computers, and it is available as an upgrade for other systems that 
originally shipped with Toshiba Card Manager 1.0.

Please be advised that Toshiba Card Manager is copyrighted software, and 
is available only to Toshiba America Information Systems (TAIS) customers.  If
you do not have a TAIS-produced Toshiba computer, you will need to contact the
Toshiba subsidiary from whom you purchased your Toshiba computer.

TAIS's agreement with its development partner for Toshiba Card Manager 3.0
specifies that TAIS will have to verify your license to use this software 
before it can be used.  Therefore, the actual archive of the installation
diskette is encrypted and will require a pass phrase in order to create the
diskette.  You can obtain the pass phrase, by any of the following methods.
The response to your request will come via the service where you sent the
request:

        o  Contact Toshiba PC Support at 800-999-4273
        o  Post a message to SYSOP on the Toshiba forum on CompuServe
        o  Send e-mail to cardmgr@smtpgate.tais.com

In your request, please include the following information:

        o  The model name of your Toshiba computer (ie: T1950CS, T4700CT, 
           400CDT, etc.)
        o  The TAIS part number from the system's silver manufacturer's
           label on the underside of the computer.  On some models, this may 
           not be conspicuous as the part number, so look for a number that 
           follows the format: PAnnnnx-xnx

The following Toshiba America Information Systems computer models carry 
license to use Toshiba Card Manager 3.0.  

 o  Dynapad Pen Computers:

        T200

 o  Satellite & Satellite Pro:

        T19x0
        T24x0
        T21x0
        400
        410

 o  Portege

        T3400
        T3600
        610CT

 o  Performance Series

        T4500*
        T4600
        T4700
        T48x0
        T4900CT

        * May not support suspend/resume of PCMCIA cards with TCM 3.0

Models not listed here do NOT carry that license, so if you have one of those
(unlisted) models, your computer either came with Windows 95 installed as the
only available operating system, or you have one of the newer Toshiba models
that come with the CardSoft PCMCIA software.

In general, any computer whose model name ends in a "5" (T21x5, 405, 415) is
NOT licensed to use TCM3.  The exception to this rule are some early T21x5
and 405 models that were manufactured prior to when Toshiba started bundling 
Win95 as the only operating system on these models (September 1995).  The part
number will determine this for validation.

Also in general, those models introduced by Toshiba beginning with Tecra 700 
and later (7x0, 100, 110, 420, 650 and beyond) would NOT have license to use
TCM3 under any circumstances because they shipped with the CardSoft PCMCIA
socket services software, and thus do not carry license for TCM3.

TAIS does not have the CardSoft software available for download at this time.
Owners of these systems are encouraged to use Master Disk Creator to create 
the disks for this software, or to call TAIS Disk Fullfillment at 800-276-3238
to have a copy sent to them.
