Mail System Management

This page is used by the administrator to set up all of the server level settings for the local mail server.

The Maximum letter size field can be used to set the maximum allowed size of any e-mail received on the server. If this field is left empty, or zero is entered, the maximum allowed size will be unlimited.

The Relaying fields are used to set the mail system relay mode. Mail relaying can work in one of three modes: open relay, closed relay, and relay with authorization.

Selecting open will allow any host computer to utilize the mail services of any domain on the server to send and/or receive mail.

Selecting closed will only allow mail to be sent and received locally (to and from domains residing on the server). The only exception would be hosts specified as allowed relay hosts in the White list (see below).

Selecting authorization is required will allow any host computer to utilize the mail services of a domain on the server provided that a valid username and password are used to authenticate the mail user.

After entering the Maximum letter size and selecting your Relaying option click the Set button to submit the changes.

The White list is a list of IP-addresses with masks from which mail will always be accepted. To add an IP-address/mask type in the IP-address and mask in the fields provided and click the Add button to submit. To delete an IP-address/mask from the list select the IP-address in the list and click on the Remove button.

The Blocked section is used to specify the mail domains from which you will not allow mail to be received. Enter a domain from which you want the mail to be rejected and select the Add button to submit. To remove a domain from the rejected mail list select the domain and click the Remove button.

The Enable MAPS spam protection checkbox, when checked enables mail abuse prevention system to help you defend your customers from abuse by spammers. Enter the hostname or IP-address in the MAPS zone(s) field and click Set. You can specify several MAPS servers separated by semicolons.

Using the radio button, select the mail name type that you want to be used for the POP3/IMAP accounts. Two options are provided: 1) use of both short (e.g. webmaster) and full (e.g. webmaster@domain.com) mail names, and 2) use of full mail names only.
Click Set to submit the settings.

Click on the Up Level icon or the appropriate shortcut to return to the previous page.
