I. DESCRIPTION
CPQEIMD.NLM is a Compaq utility for NetWare v4.X and later that allows
customization of the 4 line Integrated Management Display (IMD) on select
Compaq servers. The Enhanced IMD Idle Screen Utility (CPQEIMD.NLM) displays
customer defined data on the IMD idle screen. The idle screen is the main
IMD screen that is displayed when your IMD is powered on. The idle screen
contains the IMD "MAIN MENU" selection on the fourth line of the display.

III. OPERATING SYSTEMS SUPPORTED
  NetWare v4.X and later.

IV. NLM DEPENDENCIES
Version 4.34 or later of Compaq's NetWare Health Driver, CPQHLTH.NLM, must
be loaded prior to loading CPQEIMD.NLM. Download and install the Novell
Support Software version 6.20 or later from
  http://www.compaq.com/support/files/server
to obtain a version of CPQHLTH.NLM that supports CPQEIMD.NLM.

IV. USAGE
  To start the utility enter

  load cpqeimd

at the console prompt. CPQEIMD.NLM will read a default configuration
file and begin displaying server and OS information to the IMD idle
screen at 10 second intervals. To change the information displayed
and the period of display, see the section labeled CONFIGURATION FILE.

V. CONFIGURATION FILE
The information displayed on the IMD idle screen is configurable via a
file called cpqeimd.cfg at sys:system\cpqeimd.cfg. A maximum of 50 display
screens with 1 to 3 lines of information per screen may be displayed. To
  change the information displayed enter

  load edit sys:system\cpeimd.cfg

at the console prompt to edit the configuration file. Each display screen
in the file is delimited with the screen delimiter keywords "screen" and
"endscreen". The screen delimiter keyword "screen" indicates the start of
a screen of data to display while "endscreen" indicates that no more data
is to be displayed on that screen. Within the body of the "screen" and
"endscreen" delimiters is a line keyword "lineX" where X is the IMD
line number 1, 2, or 3. "lineX" is followed by a data keyword. The data
keyword tells the utility what data is to be displayed on that line. The
data keywords available are as follows:

  DATA KEYWORD DATA TYPE DESCRIPTION
Server_Name Static The NetWare server name as displayed at the
                                   console prompt.
System_Time Dynamic The current system time.
System_Date Dynamic The current system date.
Product_Name Static The server model, e.g. PL 8500.
Server_Serial_Number Static The server's serial number.
Processor_Count Dynamic The number of processors online.
Processor_Type Static The type of processors in the system,
                                   e.g. Pentium III Xeon.
Cpu_Utilization Dynamic The average processor utilization for all
processors online. This data is displayed
as a bar graph and as a numerical percentage
                                   from 0 to 100.
Memory_Size Static The total amount of memory seen by NetWare.
Mem_Utilization Dynamic The amount memory being used out of the
total amount of memory seen by NetWare
expressed as a bar graph and numerical
                                   percentage from 0 to 100.
Os_Name Static NetWare or NetWare SMP
Os_version Static The major and minor NetWare version number.
User_Defined_Line1 Dynamic Line 1 of the original idle screen.
User_Defined_Line2 Dynamic Line 2 of the original idle screen.
User_Defined_Line3 Dynamic Line 3 of the original idle screen.

Please note that the keywords are not case sensitive. An example of how to
use the keywords is as follows:

  screen
    line2 Server_Name
  endscreen
  screen
    line1 Product_Name
    line2 System_Time
    line3 System_Date
  endscreen

This example would cause the idle screen to cycle through 2 displays. In the
1st display, line 2 of the Integrated Management Device's idle screen would
show the NetWare server name while lines 1 and 3 would remain blank. The 2nd
display would show the product name on line 1 of the IMD, the current system
time on line 2 and the current system date on line 3.

In addition to showing system and NetWare information through the use of
keywords, text messages can be displayed to the IMD idle screen as long
as the text does not exceed 16 characters in length for each line. An
example of how to output text messages to the idle screen is as follows:

  screen
     line1 For any problems
     line2 call John Doe at
     line3 (555) 555-55555
  endscreen

The data keywords that are classified as dynamic in the previous list
change with time. It is possible to change the interval at which dynamic
data is collected as well as the rate at which each idle screen is
displayed by using timing keywords. The timing data is delimited by the
keywords "timing" and "endtiming". The data refresh for all dynamic data
except time and/or date is specified by the keyword "dataRefreshInterval".
The time and/or date data refresh interval is specified by the keyword
"timeRefreshInterval". The rate at which the display changes is specified
by the keyword "displayRefreshInterval". The new display and/or data refresh
rates are specified in seconds with the shortest period allowed being 1
second and the longest period allowed being 3600 seconds (1 hour).
An example of how to change refresh rates is as follows (please note that
none of the keywords are case sensitive).

  timing
     dataRefreshInterval 15
     displayRefreshInterval 20
     timeRefreshInterval 5
  endtiming

In this example all dynamic data except time and/or date would be
refreshed at 15 second intervals, the idle screen display would change at
20 second intervals, and the time and/or date data would be collected at
  5 second intervals.

Each line in the configuration file must end with a carriage return. Failure
to insert a carriage return will cause an error when the utility tries to read
the configuration file and the utility will not load.

VI. LOG FILE
Error and informational messages can be viewed in a log file located at
sys:system\cpqeimd.log. Messages are appended to the file each time
CPQEIMD.NLM is loaded. If no log file exists when the utility is loaded,
  it will be created.
