Installing Compaq Survey Utility on Novell NetWare

You can install the Compaq Survey Utility on a Novell NetWare system using one of the following methods:

SmartStart Setup process
Compaq Management CD
Component
Compaq Integration Maintenance Utility

IMPORTANT: The Novell NetWare version of Compaq Survey Utility installs in the SYS:SYSTEM and SYS:SYSTEM\COMPAQ directories.

Installing Through the SmartStart Setup Process return to top

To install the Survey Utility through the SmartStart Setup process, refer to the SmartStart installation poster. The method described in the poster installs an operating system and the Compaq products on a server. It also sets the default data-gathering interval to Wednesday at 6:00 A.M. with the Survey Utility taking samples once every seven days and at every power-on.

Installing from Compaq SmartStart 3.00 or later:

For new NetWare server SmartStarts, the Compaq Survey Utility for NetWare will be preselected to automatically install during the SmartStart process.

For Servers with NetWare already installed, the Compaq Survey Utility for NetWare will be preselected to automatically install during the SmartStart process.

IMPORTANT: Do not use the SmartStart installation poster method to add the Compaq Survey Utility to an existing system.

To install the Survey Utility from the Compaq Management CD on a Novell NetWare system, enter the following at the console:

LOAD D:\SURVEY\NETWARE\SINSTALL -iAUTO_INST (where D: is the CD drive letter)

The -iAUTO_INST command line parameter causes the Survey Utility to automatically load every time you boot the server and to take snapshots at every boot and every Wednesday at 6:00 A.M.

Installing from a Component on Novell NetWare return to top

To install the Survey Utility from a Component on a Novell NetWare system:

Download the Software executable from http://www.compaq.com/support/files/server
Copy it to a temporary directory in the target system.
Copy the Component to a file share on the target system.

At the Novell NetWare system prompt enter:

LOAD Component

For silent mode operation, use the following option:

<Component Name> /s

The Survey Utility is set to automatically load every time you boot the system and take snapshots at every boot and on every Wednesday at noon.

To install the Survey Utility on a Novell NetWare server through the Compaq Integration Maintenance Utility, you must have set up the server using SmartStart. When the server is set up, enter the following at the Novell NetWare system prompt:

LOAD CPQMAINT
Select Compaq Survey Utility for NetWare.
