The Remote Insight Lights-Out Edition is Compaq's remote management option card that is designed for the ultimate in operation and control of Compaq servers either locally or remotely. Utilizing an industry-standard browser, users can access the latest Compaq Survey configuration information for the host server, remotely or locally using the Remote Insight Lights Out Edition. For Windows and Novell systems,each time the Survey Utility captures the system configuration, it also saves it in the memory of the Remote Insight Lights Out Edition for that server. In instances when the server is non-functioning, the system administrator can connect to the Remote Insight Lights-Out Edition and view information that is critical to bring the server back up as soon as possible. Critical information such as the hardware and software configuration information collected by the Survey Utility is still available to the user even though the server is not running.
For systems running Remote Insight Lights-Out Edition to view the Survey information gathered by the host server, use your web browser to log on to the Remote Insight Board. Click the Survey link; choose the Download Survey Information link. The browser will download the survey.idi file to your local machine.
For systems running Remote Insight Lights-Out Edition II to view the Survey information gathered by the host server, use your web browser to log on to the Remote Insight Board. Under System Status, click the Survey link; to view the Survey file.
