Selective Storage Presentation (SSP)

For links and interfaces common to all Assisted Configuration links, please see Assisted Overview in ACU-XE help.

The following screens will allow you to change Selective Storage Presentation connection names and logical drive access settings.

Note: The Selective Storage Presentation link option will only be available for controllers that support it.

The first option will be to choose which Logical Drive you would like to change SSP settings for. The available choices will be listed for you to select.

The next option will be to choose whether or not you want to Enable/Disable SSP for the logical drive.

Disable
This radio button allows you to turn off SSP so all connections will have access to the logical drive. This means that all servers with host controllers connected to the array controller will be able to access the logical drive.

Warning: Logical drives should not be accessed by more than one server running an operating system that was not designed to share logical drives.

Consult your operating system documentation for more information.

Enable
This radio button allows you to turn on SSP to control access to the logical drive. Select this option if you want to select which connections will have access to the logical drive.

If you have chosen to Enable SSP you will have the option to set SSP access settings for the logical drive and rename connections.

This screen allows you to set up Connection Names for all connections from servers to the array controller. Type in the connection name you want in the appropriate text box. Renaming a connection will name that connection for all logical drives on the controller.

Also, this screen allows you to select which connections will have access to the logical drive. Check the connections to grant the connections access to the logical drive. Uncheck the connections to deny the connections access to the logical drive. If you uncheck all connections, the logical drive will be not be accessible.

This screen displays the following details about the connections:

  • Connection Name
A user-defined name for a connection from a server to an array controller. This connection uses a host controller that is installed in the server. The connection name is a convenient way to identify a connection for a controller instead of relying entirely on the Adapter ID of the host controller.
  • Adapter ID
A unique identification code for a host controller that is printed on the controller. This is also called a World-Wide Name (WWN).
  • Location
Displays the location of the connection. It can be any of the following:
    • Local – the host controller is located in the local server (the server that the ACU-XE is currently running on).
    • Remote – the host controller is located on a remote server.
    • Unknown – the location of the host controller is unknown.

  • Status
Displays the status of the connection. It can be any of the following:
    • Online – the host controller is currently connected to the array controller.
    • Offline – the host controller is currently not connected to the array controller.
