Fibrechannel Utilities RPM
-----------------------------

The fibreutils RPM provides the following functionality:

* List information on FC HBAs in the target server
* List sd and sg device information
* Rescan for new devices
* Gather system information
* Load the latest EFI drivers

To install this RPM:

rpm -ivh fibreutils-<version>.<arch>.rpm

To uninstall this RPM:

rpm -e fibreutils

Files contained within this RPM:

All the following user utilities are located in the
/opt/hp/hp_fibreutils directory:

scsi_info

Shows inquiry information for a specific SCSI device

lssd

Lists all sd* devices with instance, channel, bus, and LUN
information as well as SCSI product ID, firmware level, WWNN
and INQUIRY page 0x83 UUID information. Use the -h option
to list other switches.

lssg

List all sg* devices with instance, channel, bus and LUN
information as well as SCSI product ID, firmware level, WWNN
and INQUIRY page 0x83 UUID information. Use the -h option
to list other switches.

adapter_info

Lists useful information about FC adapters in the system. Use the
-h option to list other switches.

probe-luns

Forces the SCSI midlayer module (scsi_mod.o) to rescan
LUNs 0-32 for targets attached to FC adapters. Use the -h
option to list other switches.

hp_rescan

Forces the QLA FC adapters and the SCSI midlayer (scsi_mod.o) to
rescan for LUNs on all adapters or a particular adapter instance.
Use the -h option to list other switches.

hp_system_info

Gathers information on the current system and
packages it together in a compressed tar file

All these files have links into the /usr/sbin directory
so that they can be invoked anywhere.

Starting probe-luns at System Boot Time

There are some cases, specifically if a device is not in the
the SCSI blacklist or device list, where a probe has to be
forced at a specific host, channel, id, lun to find a LUN.
Running the probe-luns command at system boot can solve this
problem. If you need to start probe-luns at system boot, the
appropriate code can be installed with the pbl_inst.sh script in the
/opt/hp/hp_fibreutils/pbl directory. To install the probe-luns
startup code, execute the following commands:

	# cd /opt/hp/hp_fibreutils/pbl
	# ./pbl_inst.sh -i

To uninstall the probe-luns startup code, execute the following
command:

	# cd /opt/hp/hp_fibreutils/pbl
	# ./pbl_inst.sh -u

NOTE: If you are not having issues seeing your devices, do not
      run probe-luns at system boot!

EFI drivers

The following EFI drivers are included with the fibreutils RPM.

QLogic	1.47
Emulex	3.11a4

NOTE: These are the latest EFI drivers at the release of this RPM. Please
check http://www.hp.com for the latest EFI drivers.

There are utilties included with the efi drivers themselves that allow
you to load the EFI drivers included with the fibreutils RPM. Directions
about how to use the utilities can be found in a readme type file with the
EFI drivers themselves.

The EFI files are located in:

for Red Hat distributions: /boot/efi/efi/qla2x00
for SuSE distributions: /boot/efi/qla2x00

The QLogic EFI driver is located in the "qla" directory while the Emulex EFI
driver is located in the "elx" directory.
