Detailed Description
---------------------

New features:

EFI driver version 1.47 includes the following changes
  from version 1.42:

  - Added support for vPars A.04.01 on IPF systems

  - Added support for fibre channel adapters that contain flash
    memory components SST39VF010 and SST39VF080.

  - "Boot Order List Login" field in the EFI driver configuration
menu has been renamed to "OS Mode". The value is automatically
set and does not normally need to be changed.

  - Added an "LED Mode" field to the EFI driver configuration menu.
The value is automatically set and does not normally need to be
    changed.

Note that EFI driver version 1.47 requires RISC firmware version
    3.03.154

Fixed Issues:

EFI driver version 1.47 includes the following fixes
  from version 1.42:

  - Fixed a failure to boot because the EFI driver fails to detect
a bootable Fibre Channel disk, such as on HP Integrity Server
    rx8620 in certain configurations.

  - Fixed error handling logic in EFI driver.

  - Fixed a system crash caused by an EFI memory deallocation error.

  - Fixed a failure that caused the EFI driver to not claim an
adapter when the "reconnect -r" EFI shell command was executed.

  - Fixed an MCA error (system crash) because the EFI driver did
not validate an incorrect data reported by a device during the
    REPORT LUNS command.

  - Fixed the fibre channel login logic to avoid intermittent boot
    failures. Logins are now retried.

  - Fixed the error handling logic during the fibre channel login
    process to avoid boot failures.

EFI RISC firmware version 3.03.154 includes the following fixes
  from version 3.03.150:

  - Corrected possible spurious reporting of SRAM parity errors.

  - Corrected a problem that could cause an OS driver to fail a
    mailbox command.

  - Corrected a condition where the firmware would not become Ready
if the switch sent an RNID ELS while the firmware was attempting
a login to one of the well-known addresses within the switch.

  - Corrected a condition where the firmware could incorrectly
indicate an error to the OS driver on a mailbox command.

  - Corrected a problem where the receive data FIFOs in ISP could
get out of sync if a data frame is received with a partial frame
    header and EOFa delimiter.

EFI fibre channel card utility version 2.07 includes the
  following fixes from version 1.35:

  - Sets the OS Mode value in the EFI driver configuration menu
automatically when the adapter is updated to EFI Driver
version 1.47. Displays a message on the console. Users do not
    need to take further action.

  - Fixed a bug that caused the risc_fw_write command to display
    the wrong firmware version.

  - Fixed a bug in EFI driver and RISC firmware overwrite
protection. In the interactive mode with the 'efi_write' or
'risc_fw_write' parameter, entering 'no' to abort the operation
    was ignored.

  - Fixed an Assert error during EFI driver read or RISC firmware
read operation while trying to save files onto a fibre channel
device. Saving to a fibre channel device is not allowed.

Known Issues and Limitations

  - On HP Integrity Superdome server, Integrity rx8620 server and
Integrity rx7620 server: To enable faster booting, the system
firmware does not auto scan all PCI devices.
Therefore, the EFI fibre channel card utility may not detect
all the supported fibre channel adapters.

WORKAROUND: To run the EFI fibre channel card utility, you
must first add the device to the table of boot devices using
the "search all" EFI shell command.

  - On certain HP Integrity servers, if the EFI driver or RISC
firmware file is stored on a fibre channel device, the console
may display "open volume root failed" message.

WORKAROUND - Store the fibre channel card utility, EFI driver
and RISC firmware files on an internal SCSI drive, CD-ROM or USB
flash drive instead of a fibre channel device.

========
Features
========

- Displays the firmware version on all adapters

- Enables you to update the firmware in the flash memory of the
  adapters

===========
Description
===========

The fibre channel card utility allows you to update the adapter
flash memory with the EFI driver and RISC firmware. New versions of
these images are released periodically.

The files in this package should not be stored on a fibre channel
device. If these files are stored on a fibre channel device and
the update fails, these files will not be accessible.

The EFI shell batch command FCD_UDPATE.NSH may be used to update
the required EFI driver and RISC firmware together. This will ensure
that the adapter will function properly after the update.

===========
Preparation
===========
(a). Download the firmware and EFI utility package from HP web site
     as shown below:

HP-UX

   1. Download from HP web site:

Download The Files - Download the firmware image file and
update utility from HP web site http://www.hp.com under
"Driver Downloads" section. Expand (unzip) as necessary.

Copy Files To EFI Partition - Determine the character-
special device file for the EFI partition on your disk. Type
"ioscan -fknC disk". The file will be /dev/rdsk/*s1. If
there are more than one such file, check "bdf" output for
the name of the disk containing the directory "/". For
more information, type "man vgdisplay" and "man 4 efi". Copy
all the downloaded files to the EFI partition using efi_cp.
For information on how to use the efi_cp command type
      "man efi_cp"

Enter EFI Shell - Type "/usr/sbin/shutdown -ry now" to
reboot the system to "EFI Boot Manager".

   2. Update the Firmware From EFI Shell - Proceed to "Updating
Firmware from EFI shell" section, shown below.

Linux
   1. Download from HP web site:

Download The Files - Download the firmware image file and
update utility from HP web site http://www.hp.com under
"Driver Downloads" section. Expand (unzip) as necessary.

Copy Files To EFI Partition - Create a subdirectory
"/efi/boot/update" at the EFI partition /efi/boot. Use
"cp" command to copy all the downloaded files to
      "/efi/boot/update".

Enter EFI Shell - Type "reboot" to reboot the system to
      "EFI Boot Manager".

   2. Update the Firmware From EFI Shell - Proceed to "Updating
Firmware from EFI shell" section, shown below.

(b) If the firmware and EFI utility are already on a CD-ROM, such
as HP IPF Offline Diagnostics and Utilities CD, certain steps
are required to access the files in the package.

   1. When you boot the EFI enabled systems, the CD-ROM containing
the EFI fibre channel card utility must be in the drive to
allow device mapping. The EFI utility and firmware image files
are located in the root directory or in a subdirectory on the
      CD-ROM.

Boot the system to the EFI shell prompt. The CD-ROM drive
should appear in the list of mapped devices as "fs0".

In systems with a CD-ROM drive, change to this device by
      typing "fs0:"

        shell> fs0:
        fs0:\>

   2. Update the Firmware From EFI Shell - Proceed to "Updating
Firmware from EFI shell" section, shown below.

================================
Updating Firmware from EFI shell
================================

Step 1
For general information about using EFI, refer to the
"Operation and Maintenance Guide", or type "help -a" and
press the Enter key at EFI shell prompt.

When the "EFI Boot Manager" menu appears, use the arrow keys
to highlight the entry "EFI Shell", then press the Enter key
  to select it.

The "Device mapping table" will be displayed. The selection
must be made within the timeout period displayed on the
  screen.

Locate The Files Under EFI Shell - Enter "fsX:" and press
the Enter key. "X" is from the "Device mapping table" or use
EFI shell command "map -r" to display this table.

At EFI shell prompt, change directory to where the update
utility and firmware image files reside.

Run the update utility as described below. Then reset the
  system and reboot.

Step 2
As described in "Known Issues and Limitations" section, you must
execute the following command on HP Integrity Superdome server,
HP Integrity rx8620 server or HP Integrity rx7620 server:

    fs0:\> search all

If you fail to execute this command, some adapters may not
    be found and updated properly.

Or the following message may appear, even if the system has
    an adapter:

"No adapters connected to driver, exiting..."

Step 3
To determine the current EFI driver and RISC firmware versions:

    fs0:\> efiutil

The example below indicates that the EFI driver version is 1.42,
the RISC firmware version is 3.03.150 and the EFI fibre channel
    card utility version is 2.07:

Fibre Channel Card Efi Utility 2.07

    2 Fibre Channel Adapters found:

    A1 Acpi(000222F0,400)/Pci(1|0) 50060B00001CCD94 1.42 (3.03.150)
    A2 Acpi(000222F0,400)/Pci(1|1) 50060B00001CCD96 1.42 (3.03.150)

Step 4
To update the matching EFI driver and RISC firmware on all the
  fibre channel adapters:

    fs0:\> fcd_update
    fs0:\> reset

Step 5
To view the VPD information for EFI driver and RISC firmware
  version after "reset" is executed:

    fs0:\> fcd_vpd

Step 6 (Optional)
To configure configuration parameters or EFIFCScanLevel
  parameter in the System NVRAM

    fs0:\>DRVCFG -s DriverHandle DeviceHandle

where DriverHandle is the driver handle. DriverHandle
is under the "DRV" column, after entering "drivers" EFI
    shell command.

DeviceHandle is the device handle. DeviceHandle is from
"Ctrl" field after entering "drvcfg" EFI shell command.
It should be from the line with DRV field matching
    the DriverHandle.

Refer to the "Using the QLogic EFI Configuration and
Diagnostic Protocols" document (eficfg.pdf) for complete
    instructions.
