The Home page enables you to install ProLiant Support Packs and components. You can click the name of the software or firmware item to link to a description of that item from the repository.
A ProLiant Support Pack is a complete, tested, and ordered list of HP components that include drivers, agents, and utilities, is specific to an operating system, and applies to all hardware models.
A component is a single, self-describing, installable (interactive or silent) binary file containing a single piece of software, such as firmware image, driver, agent, or utility, that is supported by the management and update tools.
To install a component or Support Pack:
Select the Home tab. The Home page is displayed.
Click the Install icon next to the item you want to be installed. A component/Support Pack installation page for selecting installation options is displayed.
Force Installation— Select this option to allow the software to reinstall itself over an existing or newer version.
A “downgrade” to an older version might not succeed, even though this box is selected. Selecting this box allows the installation to be attempted because normal processing for most components will not attempt to install if a newer version is already present.
Automatic Reboot—Select this option to allow the Version Control Agent to automatically reboot the device if the installation requires a reboot when finished. In the case of a Support Pack installation, this event occurs after all component installations complete without error. If any component installation returns an error result, the reboot will not occur.
Inspect the Version Control Agent Log after an installation error to determine whether the system must be restarted. If you do not select Automatic Reboot, look at the log to determine if a reboot is needed. If the log indicates a reboot is required, manually reboot the server for the installations to complete.
When a task completes, be sure to read the details in the log to determine whether a reboot is required.
Click Install to begin the installation or click Cancel to abort the installation and return to the Home page.
An error in the install process will cause the installation to fail. No component installations will occur. An error in the installation of a single component will not stop the installation of the rest of the components from a Support Pack, but it will prevent an automatic reboot from occurring. An error in the download of a component from the Version Control Repository Manager will cause the install of all components in the Support Pack to fail. In Windows, if an installation of a single component does not complete within 15 minutes, a timeout occurs and the component's installation is terminated.
Only one installation task can progress at a time. Clicking on the install icon while another installation is in progress will redirect you to the Log page for status of the current installation in progress.
