This section contains an alphabetical list of terms used in the HP Version Control Agent and HP Version Control Repository Manager.

Automatic Device Authentication |
The agent level access rights of a user who has logged in through HP Systems Insight Manager. |

Available Software |
A listing of the software components available in the repository that the Version Control Agent has been configured to point to. When browsing directly into a Version Control Agent, these additional components can be selected for installation. |

Catalog |
An organized listing of the software contained within the directory/repository being managed by the Version Control Repository Manager. Software components are organized according to the Operating System and function (that is, display drivers, HP Insight Management Agents, etc). |

Component |
A packaged software/firmware program or module. Individual software/firmware modules from HP are bundled and delivered as components. These components, when deployed, will install the software/firmware module they contain. |

Configuration Settings |
This allows the user to configure options such as what repository the Version Control Agent will point to for software reference and update, and what Support Pack within that repository to use as a baseline. |

Custom Software Baseline |
A set of HP software components that have been bundled together as a baseline by the customer. Modifying the contents of an existing Support Pack provides the customer with the flexibility to define their own baselines for their environment. |

An HP Insight Management Agent that is installed on a system to allow the customer to see the HP software that is installed on that server. The Version Control Agent can be configured to point to a repository being managed by the Version Control Repository Manager agent, allowing easy version comparison and software deployment from the repository to the server that the Version Control Agent is installed upon. | |

HP Version Control Repository Manager |
An HP Insight Management Agent that allows a customer to manage software from HP that is stored in a directory/repository known as the Version Control Repository. |

HP Version Control Repository Manager Log |
A list of events and changes in the directory that is being managed by the Version Control Repository Manager. |

Installed Version |
A particular HP software component that is installed on the server the Version Control Agent is installed on. |
|
Latest Version |
This displays the latest version of a particular HP software component that is contained in the repository. |

Management HTTP Server |
An integrated piece of software used by HP's suite of Web-Based Management Products to communicate over HTTP and HTTPS. It provides a uniform set of functionality and security to HP's Web-enabled Products. |

This section indicates the status of the installed software as being UP-TO-DATE, DEGRADED, CRITICAL, UNKNOWN by comparing the installed software against what is available in the repository, if repository is configured, else, UNKNOWN by default. | |

ProLiant Support Pack |
A set of HP software components that have been bundled together by HP, and verified to work with a particular operating system. A ProLiant Support Pack contains driver components, agent components, and application and utility components. All of these are verified to install together. |

A baseline bundle of HP software components that the Version Control Agent can be configured to point to in the repository. This setting allows the user to say that they want to keep all of their software up to a certain Support Pack level. | |

RPM |
The Red Hat Package Manager. RPM is a powerful package manager, which can be used to build, install, query, verify, update and uninstall individual software packages. A package consists of an archive of files, and package information, including name, version, and description. |

Single Sign-on |
The ability to log in after to the operating system without being prompted for login credentials to applications participating in the single sign-on architecture. |

Software Inventory |
A listing of the HP software installed on the system that the Version Control Agent is installed on. |
|
Support Pack Version |
A field that displays the version of a particular HP software component that is contained in the Reference Support Pack that the Version Control Agent has been configured to use as a baseline. There may be a later version than this available in the repository, but this is the latest version of this particular component in the Reference Support Pack. |

A listing of all the software maintenance tasks completed by the Version Control Agent, and reports results from those tasks. | |

Version Control Repository |
The directory that contains the ProLiant Software updates that are being cataloged by a Version Control Repository Manager. This directory that acts as the center collection point for ProLiant software and firmware updates is referred to as the Version Control Repository. |
