SAS Host Bus Adapter

Select a SAS host bus adapter entry from the Mass Storage list to display a submenu containing separate entries for HBA Information and SAS devices connected to the HBA. The following items may be displayed depending on the type of HBA:

SAS Host Bus Adapter

SAS Physical Drive

SAS Logical Drive

SAS Tape Drive

SAS Storage System

SAS Host Bus Adapter Top

Select a host bus adapter entry from the Mass Storage list to display the following information.

Model displays the HBA's model ID, used for identification purposes. The following values are valid: Status displays the current status of the HBA. The following values are valid: Serial Number displays the serial number of the SAS HBA. This number can be used for identification purposes.

BIOS Version displays the SAS HBA's BIOS version number. This information is not available for all SAS HBAs.

Firmware Version displays the SAS HBA's BIOS firmware version number. This information is not available for all SAS HBAs.

SAS Physical Drive Top

Select a SAS physical drive from the SAS host bus adapter submenu to display the following information:

Model displays the model of the SAS physical drive.

Status shows the status of the physical drive selected.

Serial Number displays the serial number assigned to the physical drive. This value is based on the serial number as returned by the SCSI inquiry command, but may have been shortened due to space limitations. Use this item for identification purposes.

Capacity displays the size of the physical drive. A megabyte (MB) is 1,048,576 bytes, a gigabyte (GB) is 1,073,741,824 bytes, and a terabyte (TB) is a thousand gigabytes.

Many hardware manufacturers use a megabyte value of 1,000,000 instead of 1,048,576. This may result in discrepancies between the manufacturer's stated size and the size reported by this application.

Firmware Version displays the firmware revision level of the SAS physical drive.

Placement indicates if the physical drive is in an internal or external storage system. The following values are valid: Hot plugThis symbol indicates that the drive is a hot plug drive.

Disk Type indicates the type of disk drive. The following values are valid:

SAS Address displays the SAS address assigned to this disk drive. This item can be used for identification purposes.

Rotational Speed indicates the rotational speed of the drive in revolutions per minute.

Used Reallocs displays the number of sectors of the reallocation area that have been used by the physical drive.

OS Assigned Name displays the operating system name associated with this disk drive.

SAS Logical Drive Top

Select a SAS logical drive from the SAS host bus adapter submenu to display the following information:

Status shows the status of the physical drive selected.

Raid Level displays the raid configuration of the logical drive. The possible values are:

Capacity displays the size of the logical drive. A megabyte (MB) is 1,048,576 bytes, a gigabyte (GB) is 1,073,741,824 bytes, and a terabyte (TB) is a thousand gigabytes.

Drive manufacturers sometimes use the number 1,000,000 as a megabyte when giving drive capacities so this value may differ from the advertised size of a drive.

Stripe Size The size of a logical drive stripe or group of data written to a physical drive in kilobytes. It may be zero in some raid configurations.

OS Assigned Name displays the operating system name associated with this logical drive.

When the status is Rebuilding the following will be displayed to indicate the progress of the operation.

Percent Rebuild Complete displays the percent complete of the rebuild. When the value reaches 100, the rebuilding process is complete. The drive array continues to operate in interim recovery mode while the drive is rebuilding.

Rebuilding Drive identifies the physical drive that failed. The logical drive is rebuilding using a spare drive in place of this failed drive.

Physical Drives

A list of physical drives that are members of this logical drive. Select one of the listed physical drives to see more information about the drive.

Spare Drives

A list of spare drives that may be used by this logical drive to replace a failed drive. Select one of the listed spare drives to see more information about the drive.

SAS Tape Drive Top

Select a SAS tape drive from the SAS host bus adapter submenu to display the following information:

Model displays the model of the SAS tape drive.

Status shows the status of the tape drive selected.

Serial Number displays the serial number assigned to the tape drive. This value is based on the serial number as returned by the device, but may have been shortened due to space limitations. Use this item for identification purposes.

Firmware Version displays the firmware revision level of the SAS tape drive.

SAS Address displays the SAS address assigned to this tape drive. This item can be used for identification purposes.

SAS Storage System Top

Select a storage system item from the SAS HBA submenu to display the following information about storage systems.

Connection Type displays the type of drive enclosure or box. The following types of enclosures are possible: Vendor displays the name of the vendor that produces this drive enclosure, or box type. Use this information for identification purposes.

Model displays the model of the storage system. Use this information for identification purposes.

Firmware Revision displays the firmware revision of the drive enclosure or box. Use this information for identification purposes.

Serial Number displays the serial number of the drive enclosure or box. Use this information for identification purposes.

Drive Bays displays the number of drive bays provided by this storage system. If duplexing hardware is used with the storage system, the drive bay number is less than the number of physical drive bays in the enclosure.

Fan Status displays the status of the fan subsystem in the drive enclosure, or box. The following values are possible:

Power Supply Status displays the status of the redundant power supply. The following values are possible:

Thermal Status displays the temperature status of the drive system. The following values are possible:
