LDCM (LanDesk Client Manager)

The LDCM directory contains LANDesk Client Manager, a software program designed
by Intel to provide system managability using the Desktop Management Interface.
LDCM supports Windows 95, Windows NT 3.51, and Windows NT 4.0.

LDCM 3.0 provides four key areas of support for management of systems built with the
AL440LX motherboard:
PC Health Monitor: alerts for PC conditions along with display of recommendations for
  addressing problematic conditions
Categorical View: 14 icons, each of which can be used to display system attributes and
  useful system information
DMI Browser: provides a tabbed view of component/group/attribute from the DMI service
  layer database
General System Controls: provides features such as access security (user defined),
system file snapshots (read/write), remote file transfer and remote reboot

Due to the architecture of the AL440LX motherboard, LDCM 3.0 will not provide the hardware
monitoring functions available on previous motherboards. Thus, the following capabilities
will not be available: motherboard temperature monitoring, chassis and processor fan
monitoring, power supply voltage monitoring. These hardware monitoring features will once
again be available with LDCM 3.1, expected in November 1997. If you need these features
ask your system integrator to contact Intel Customer Support for copies of LDCM 3.1 when it
is available.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR WINDOWS 95:

DOSICU/WINICU (DOS/WIN ISA Configuration Utility)
-------------------------------------------------

The ISA Configuration Utility (ICU) for both DOS and Windows 3.1 is included on

To create DOS ICU diskettes:

 1. Have two DOS diskettes available labeled Disk1 and Disk2.
 2. From the SOFTWARE\DOSICU\Disk1directory on the CD, copy all the files to
    the diskette labeled Disk1.
 3. From the SOFTWARE\DOSICU\Disk2 directory on the CD, copy all the files to
    the diskette labeled Disk2.
 4. Place Disk1 in drive A:, type install and hit Enter.

In order to use the ICU.exe program on a DOS based system, you must enter the
BIOS setup program and change the option "Boot with Plug and Play OS" to
"None". In Setup choose "Advanced/PNP Configuration/Configuration Mode",
then hit Enter. Change from "Use Setup Utility" to "Use ICU". Finally,
change "Boot with Plug and Play OS" to "None".

PIIX4
------

This subdirectory contains files that make up a software utility which will automatically
update Windows 95 .INF files so that the operating system recognizes the PIIX4 component.
Due to a limitation of the utility, it is not possible to change all the necessary lines of
the .INF files. Instead, the utility utility directly writes the Windows 95 Registry. As a
result, after the utility is run, if the PIIX4 keys are removed from the Registry, the .INF
files will not hold all the information needed to completely rebuild the Registry. Thus,
the utility will need to be run again.

In general, there is only a small likelihood that the PIIX4 keys will be removed. However,
if Regedit is used to view the Registry and the PIIX4 keys are mistakenly removed or driver
hardware inadvertently deletes a key or a user incorrectly removes the keys from the
Registry, then Windows 95 will no longer be able to recognize the PIIX4. The update
utility will need to be run again

The utility works only with versions of Windows 95. In order to run the utility you will
need to read and agree to a software license agreement. The text of the software license
agreement will be displayed when you run the program setup.exe. Please see the readme.txt
file within the PIIX4 subdirectory for more details.
