WinRipper v0.71 (C) 1999-2000 PP
http://pp666.cjb.net/

WinRipper is a tool that allows you to quickly extract sound and music from computer games.
It's designed to take care of most format conversions - just rip then listen.

Formats supported in this version:
- waveforms: WAV, VOC, AUD, AIFF, AU/SMD, 8SVX
- MIDI and clones: RMI, HMP, HMI, XMI, MUS, CMF
- modules: MOD, S3M, IT, XM
- movies: VQA, AVI
- misc formats: RIFF, IFF

Available built-in converters:
VOC->WAV, AUD->WAV, AIFF->WAV, RMI->MID, HMP->MID, HMI->MID, XMI->MID, MUS->MID, CMF->MID, VQA->WAV

Advantages over other rippers:
- built-in converters for non-standard formats
- no false alerts (or extremely few)
- high speed

Quick start:
1. Select file or group of files (use wildcards, like this: "c:\redalert\*.mix") to scan.
2. Type output directory (if doesn't exist, WinRipper will create it).
3. Choose what formats do you want to rip by enabling/disabling them.
4. Choose settings for particular formats.
5. Choose whether you want to be informed about every found file or not ("Ask before saving").
6. Click "Rip".
(steps 3,4,5 are optional)

You can also use WinRipper as a converter (AUD->WAV, VOC->WAV, HMP->MID, MUS->MID, etc).

Tips:
* Don't enable AUD sfx ripping while scanning whole C&C CD unless you really want to get a few hundred files in output directory.
* C&C music can be found in main.mix and redalert.mix (Red Alert), scores.mix (Tiberian Sun) or separate AUD files (D2K, C&C1 demo).
* Some CD burners / MP3 compressors might be unable to read IMA ADPCM WAVs (converted AUDs) - load these WAVs in Windows' Sound Recorder, save as PCM 22khz/16b/mono and try again.
* I've found that certain lame program (some sort of animated cursor editor) writes size of whole file instead of RIFF chunk size. Ripped RIFF files might be occasionally 8 bytes longer than they should be.
* Output extensions of more exotic RIFF formats might not be 100% correct.
* XM support might not be working 100% correctly - it is a hack rather than regular programming. It might fail to rip some valid files.
* HMI conversion is pretty good, but it will delete looping info from file. If you use my DirectMusic Winamp plugin (v1.0+), do not convert HMIs to MIDs.
* RIFF is sort of all-in-one format - it includes a _lot_ of various sub-formats (like WAV or AVI); RIFF includes DirectMusic/IMA specific types.
* To optimize speed, disable 'scan inside extracted files' and enable 'automatic skipping'. These options might make it impossible to rip something in very rare cases, but usually speed up scanning a lot.
