IBM ThinkPad Infrared Device Driver Readme

  This package contains the following:

o An OS/2* Warp device driver supporting
the infrared device installed on a IBM* ThinkPad 755CE,
      755CD, 755CDV, 755CV, 755CX, 755CS, 755CSE, 701C, and
      701CS.

o The actual files that enable the device driver
      are IRDD.SYS and LMDLL.DLL.

  IMPORTANT

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS. YOUR
USE OF THE IBM THINKPAD DRIVER INDICATES YOUR
  ACCEPTANCE OF THE FOLLOWING

  TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

o YOU MUST BE A LICENSEE OF OS/2.
o YOU MAY MAKE COPIES OF THE
IBM THINKPAD DRIVER EQUAL TO THE NUMBER OF
LICENSED COPIES OF OS/2 YOU POSSESS.
o ALL OTHER TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF YOUR OS/2
      LICENSE AGREEMENT APPLY TO THIS
IBM THINKPAD DRIVER; HOWEVER, THIS DOES NOT EXTEND ANY

1.0 INFRARED DEVICE DRIVER

The IRDD.SYS and LMDLL.DLL files are used to enable the
infrared device installed on the IBM Thinkpad models 755CE,
     755CD, 755CDV, 755CV, 755CX, 755CS. 755CSE, 701C, and 701CS.

The infrared device installed on these models is capable of
sending and receiving data at asynchronous speeds of 9,600,
     19,200, 38,400, 57,600 and 115,200 baud.

Except for IBM Thinkpad models 701C and 701CS, the infrared
device is also capable of sending and receiving data at the
rate of 1,152,000 baud in synchronous mode.

2.0 ADJUSTING THE COMMUNICATION SPEED OF OTHER THINKPADS

The OS/2 Warp infrared device driver automatically adjusts
the data rate to the slowest side of the connection. This
means if you attempt to make an infrared connection from a
Thinkpad model 755CE to a Thinkpad model 701C, the driver in
the 755CE model will automatically adjust the communications
speed to match that of the 701C.

IBM Thinkpad models 701C and 701CS have a maximum infrared
data transfer rate of 115,200 baud.

3.0 INSTALLATION

    Follow the steps below:
    1. Copy IRDD.SYS to X:\OS2\BOOT directory.
    2. Copy LMDLL.DLL to X:\OS2\DLL directory.
    3. Edit the X:\CONFIG.SYS file and add the line:
          device=X:\OS2\BOOT\IRDD.SYS
( Where X: is the drive where OS/2 is installed )
       Save the CONFIG.SYS file.
    4. Shutdown from the OS/2 desktop and restart the system.
