Las Vegas OS/2 Users Group

Issue 1
Las Vegas, NV.
January, 1995

First Newsletter Issue
This is the first issue of the Las Vegas OS/2 Users Group Newsletter. I am the Editor,
Tony Ricciotti. I will do my best to make the information provided in this publication
understandable by novice as well as long time OS/2 users. I hope you find this publication
informative as well as fun to read. This publication will not be used as a launching
platform of misinformation nor bashing of competing products. However, I will, when it is
warranted, make fair and concise comparisons with competing products. Some of you
might be saying well what qualifications does this guy have to write a newsletter? Well I
have been a dedicated OS/2 user since Version 2.0 was released in March, 1992. Beta
tester of both OS/2 V2.1 and Warp v3. I am a member of TEAM OS/2, former President of
the High Desert OS/2 User's Group in Southern California, and an OS/2 Programmer, also I
have no life besides my Wife, Son and my computer. If you have any comments about the
publication (specific or in general) I can be reached on the LVOS/2UG BBS' Absolutely
Temporary and Las Vegas/PM or Internet: ricciott@terminus.intermind.net. Thank you for
reading this newsletter and have fun getting Warp'ed.

OS/2 Warp Fullpack
Apparently the second of four expected releases of IBM's best selling 32bit
Operating System, Warp Fullpack (Warp with Windows), has been delayed for about a
month. This is due to IBM's commitment to squash all bugs possible for the next release.
This is good from the point that when you purchase and install it you will have a better
experience. IBM has been hard at work making this product as clean as possible. Kudos to
IBM for this action. Actual release date is not known at this time. Pricing is expected to
be as follows. CD-ROM copies - $119.00US and 3.5" floppy copies - $129.00US. These
are the upgrade prices listed by IBM as of December 20, 1994. For more information you
can contact IBM at 1-800-342-6672 (1-800-3IBMOS2).

Local TEAM OS/2 Activities
If you happen to love OS/2, I don't mean love really, I mean if you LOVE OS/2 and
would like to help IBM continue in it's endeavor to retain OS/2's position as the number
one selling 32bit Operating System on the market, then I am looking for you. I am
coordinating the OS/2 Demos in the local area. If you hear of a store, Users Group,
Company, or just any group of people that would like to see what OS/2 is all about then
please give me their name and phone number so that I may contact them about it. Also, I
am looking to form a group of about 8 people to take the valley be storm. I would like to
get regular demos going every weekend at local stores. This does not mean that you will
be doing demos every weekend (unless you want to), this means that wee will have a group
of people that will be doing demos once a month. I have personally seen through my own
demos (six in all with over 1400 copies of OS/2 sold) that people are very willing to try
something new if it will make their life better. OS/2 is that thing. E-Mail me with your
name, mailing address and home phone number and best time to call you if you if you
would like to volunteer for demos. Also, E-Mail me with the names and phone numbers of
ANYONE wanting an OS/2 demo. My E-Mail locations can be found in my introduction on
page one. The current demos are as follows: Feb 18, 1995 at Computer City and
sometimein March for Computer Warehouses of Nevada (hopefully right after the release of
Warp w/Win-OS/2.
