If You Use OS/2 and Read QWK Packets You Should Try MR/2

For the last year or so I've been using Nick Knight's (Knight Writer
Software) MR/2 Classic and MR/2PM OS/2 off-line readers for QWK packets.
They are professionally written and do all that I could want - more.
MR/2's most notable feature is the author's support. Send Nick $20 to
register and he responds quickly. Post a message to him just about
anywhere and he replies. Have a problem - he helps you. Nick is a pro and
it shows.

Then there's MR/2's ability to make custom conferences. You can create an
INI file for each BBS that you have QWK packets from and MR/2 will create
virtual conferences using whatever keywords you want.

Custom conferences are great time savers and keep my frustration index
low. Rather than read every message in the Forsale conference or perform
manual scans on every packet, I create a custom conference for any items I
might currently be looking for. So when I want more memory or a new hard
drive every packet is automatically searched and a new conference appears.
Neat. MR/2 can also search across all conferences, in case you want to be
sure you see any posts containing certain keywords or names. I use this
feature too, everyday. Of course searching can be done manually, either in
one conference or across all conferences in a packet, using multiple
keywords and "soundex" searching.

Between the Smart Quoting (wraps text and strips the old header) and
the Reply Template (many variables for custom formatting date/to/from,
signatures, etc.) editing of replies is slashed to the minimum. MR/2
uses different sections of the template file for private RIME messages,
plugging in the correct routing for you, or entering your Internet address.

Some of MR/2's other features are:

Use external editors or the internal one
User configured quote prefixes
Tag line stealing and editing
Pick tag lines from a file
Saves messages as TXT files
Choice of zippers and paths, including Nick's own REXX routines
On-line help
Copy messages to other conference(s)
User selected colors
Skip already read messages
Mouse support can be turned off
Reply editing or edit the header only
Header and thread/subject indexes
Select options via MR2.INI
Command line access
Write a new message without having a packet present
Rename or delete packets
Manual-in-a-file with lots of examples

I use MR/2 Classic, which is text based. The latest release is v1.57
(MR2_157.ZIP) and Nick is working on betas of v2.0 which will have even
more features - like an address book and spell checker for the internal
editor.

MR/2PM, the Presentation Manager version (latest MRP_99HS.ZIP), shares most
of MR/2's features and has PM features like sizeable windows, buttons, etc.
